Fantastic match, I think Trump was a tad lucky again, but that's just the way it goes. He also played some phenomenal snooker, as did Ronnie. Wow, I'm still buzzin.

Also, hard luck to Matthew Stevens, he did well to level for the decider from
5 - 3 down, and got his chance in the final frame, but missed a black on 24, and Ding took it from there, but he's looking pretty good these days is Matthew.

Yeah a great match that was, but Judd seemed to get a bit more of the luck and thats how it went.
Speaking of rankings, the PTC`s have made their impact. As mentioned before, its only because of them Ronnie didn`t already have to qualify for the UK I believe....He didn`t play 09 Shanghai, 1st round exit in UK, then didnt play German Masters, 1st round exit in Welsh and China Open and then he also didn`t play in Australian Open. It`s fair to say that for the next 12 months his struggle for Top 16 will continue since he has still relatively a lot of points to come off compared to those around him, then it`s his World Open (2010) final coming off early next season so plenty of points to defend. Needs a good run in the next few ranking events, but he`ll always have to play one of the top guys like Trump in R2, so tough times it is...On the other hand Bingham, Stevens and Lee have almost nothing to defend so they`re to move up. I think we`ll only be able to really see the whole picture at the end of this year when a full 2 year cycle of PTC`s will be over. But it`s another story...

Higgins v Maguire and Robbo v Dott should be good ones aswell. Both Robertson and Dott looked in great form in R1, so could be a good one

It's not even playing, it's how I feel in between matches and tournaments. It leaves me feeling quite nervy and anxious and I feel like I've had enough of the anxious moments
That's disappointing - he's been very good at not threatening to quit or saying he played badly recently. I wonder if it;s just a reaction to going out of a match he feels he should have won.

the majority of streaming media is flash-based, and Apple products will not use flash because Steve Jobs threw a strop about using flash. If you had a non-apple tablet or phone, it would work perfectly well. Without flash, you're going to struggle because most of them will want to install their own software/codecs, and Apple won't allow you to do that.

So they really cut off the game at 5-5 on BBC? For a cooking programme? I didn't see the BBC Version of the match (watched it on Eurosport) but this is really poor from BBC.
Although: Eurosport would easily cut a snooker game off on its high point as well, because they have to switch to truck pulling or some BS like that ;-))

So its not the BBC alone I suppose ...

I have to watch most of the games on the secondary stream links (or german eurosport), although I'm a paying customer at liveworldsnooker, but they don't allow me to watch the UK Champs from germany ... PTC10 worked fine though

Nice one BBC, cut down the match length in agreement with Barry to have a finish in each session and then don't even put enough time in the schedule to show the full session.

And what is after , breaking news no just another cooking program to go with the millions on throughout the rest of the week, that is worth missing a live sporting event for.

No evening program today either so all in all looks like Barry did a good deal with the BBC's new contract, i do like some of his changes but the tv side of it sucks bigtime.

Shame Ronnie lost but he should have won 6-4 and Stevens missed an easy black and Ding kept his head for a second 6-5 win.

This is nothing new. The BBC couldn't give a dingo's kidney for snooker, or it's fans. Now, if it were tennis or golf, it'd be "by-by cooking program".

The PTC events should carry at least some weight in the rankings, or else why do they exist? Imagine a situation where O' Sullivan, who has been in three finals this year, won the Premier League, played a final against Trump in Belgium described by the TV commentators as one of the best matches they'd ever seen, was the bookmaker's favourite to win the UK, yet he could have dropped out of the top sixteen and had to qualify for future TV tournaments. This can't be allowed to happen, and as I say, it wouldn't happen in tennis.
Well Mark Williams dominated all the way through last season including the PTCs thats why he´s ranked so high. While O´Sullivan was mediocre to say it at least. The rankings are calculated over two seasons.

I know not everyone can afford Sky but imo, Sky Sports is vital for Snooker. Quittng a match at 5-5 for a cooking program, is a disgrace. It's not as though there was a long time to go in the game either.

It will be interesting what the BBC will do when Ronnie doesn't play anymore. He has threatened to quit again lol

I forgot that they were calculated over two seasons. I don't really agree with this, although Nadal was advocating it for tennis recently. I think a two year ranking system for snooker was more justifiable when there were a handful of tournaments; is it necessary now?

I don´t really know, but then Judd Trump and O´Sullivan would have been further down the ranking list, so that wouldn´t really change anything. Another thing is, both Trump and O´Sullivan have qualified to the PTC playoff, which will give them more ranking points.
