I think you just about summed it all up there deant1982. I think we've all been there at some point, I know I gave the game up for a long time but love it more now probably than ever. Never played at his level but it still gets to ya no matter what level you play at. Only thing I would say is if your gonna retire do it dont keep crying and moaning saying it for sympathy like ron cause that really does annoy.

Based on your previous posts, like me didn't you once get sick of playing snooker so stepped away from the game for some time, only to return to it as fired up as you ever were? (not to mention going into a cue buying frenzy??) This might be what he needs to re-find the love of the game, and start enjoying it again. Maybe a year off will make him realise what he had, and will light a fire under his ass... Maybe he'll take a year off, find he doesn't miss the game at all, and pack up altogether. I just think it was a heat of the moment remark, but I hope he doesn't retire as I like watching him, and he isn't normally the bat s**t crazy, drama queen Ronnie is.
I absolutley agree, however retiring and taking a break are to different things. Perhaps he was just caught in the moment.

Does two cues count as a frenzy?

I'm surprised that people are surprised. I was talking abt the issue of victims of the ROS, JH MW era with the girlfriend last night. Ali Carter, along with many other players are under this.

AC is particular too. It must be crazily tramatizing, lost to all the finals against ROS, NIT trophy with 5 centuries. Twice in the masters lost miserably. A top 8 player but rarely displayed any of the caliber in the PLS. Never to have won the bigger ranking titles. Havent comr close to winning the PTCs. The urge to quit must be always haunting him.

It really is a case of trauma rather than being owed a title.
Of course, whether he really commits to it is a different story. But i am far from surprised.

He's fooled you all. It's a blatant sarcastic reaction to Ronnie's latest threat to quit. The previous time Ronnie threatened to quit Carter was one of the most critical players. "We've all got problems" i remember him saying.

            BREAKING NEWS:

            Ali Carter back tracking already!

Mark Williams tweet was funny earlier, along the lines of 'dont tell us and do it!' Brilliant.

As said, probably heat of the moment as he felt like giving it up after not playing well and getting knocked out of the second biggest tournament.
I read about Mark Williams' one yesterday, simply full of expletives, ending with I am just s**t! Might have to get on this twitter thing and see what these bozo's are saying, as it seems quite funny. During mark williams's match vs walden (watched some of the repeat this morning) they mentioned about a MW "tweet" in response to Ronnie's retire again statement. Apparantly it just said "yawn". Quite a funny, dry sense of humour on that one!
If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

What about Jimmy White then in the 90s? Losing 5 WC finals to Hendry, 1 when being up 14-8 and losing 18-14. What about all those guys who got killed while playing Davis in the 80s?

Seriously, who cares if he's going to retire. I mean, at some point, if you're to be a pro, you gotta have the mental side. All Carter's saying is he has a problem there.

Maybe thats why he's won so little tournaments after all. Its a shame should he retire because he's a top 8 player right now and is a class act.

Honestly, I'm sure this is yet another attention-whore move like some others have done in the past. At some point, it gets old.

Having had a quicxk glance at that twitter feed, I don;t think it's the real Mark Williams - it's just a stream of abuse.

Really? He comes across as a complete arse on there then. Mind you, it's twitter - where everyone is a fevered ego.

He's just coming across as 'one of the lads', some might see that as an arse of course.

Good banter between most of the players on twitter.

How many times have we heard players say this after a loss they feel they should have won..

And how many have actually retired,?

I just let it go over my head with players saying things like this after going out of a major tourney.

                                Snooker players don't retire mun...lol.

And what would he do? fly? i doubt he could earn a living from that...
