if ever there was a case to move the world championship from the crucible to a bigger venue the conference centre was that place. now with it gone they got to be very carefull in moving for moving sake as has been mentioned the wembly Arena isnt a patch on the conference centre and moving the worlds to somewhere bigger might just rip out the heart of that tournament.

I liked the Barbican and visited it 3 times the last in 2004 when I watched Maguire beat O'Sullivan. Preston was ok but nothing special for me personally. Telford is a great venue. The old Wembley was very special but the new one again is ok and I look forward to return if only to beat the high score of 7 reds in 60 seconds and not bloody draw it and not get tickets for free cos I didnt get picked out of the hat of 3 names!!
Rant over.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Preston is better for me, as not only is it much closer, but theres all the snooker history of the venue, and a good atmosphere and you get a good view from all seats, and you can walk around the top of the venue to change matches easily..
Telford - I just remember the poxy tin roof, after it was banging like they had builders in during the wind and rain in the first year. Hope they fixed that !!?Last edited by dannyd0g; 29 November 2009, 02:00 PM."You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.

Please, please make this happen!! The Guild Hall is such a historic venue and top class snooker deserves to be played there no doubt. I'm sure the crowds will be better than we have seen in the early rounds at the other events. The players love the venue too so it makes sense to bring it back. I live 15 minutes away so i would probably be there all day

oooo where to start
Love to see Snooker back in Preston agree I think it should have been the UK to go back to Preston. Guild Hall could do with doing up though. Actual venue ok but the bar and other facilities aren't the best.
MEN and other arena size venues are just too bloody big.
Shame that Scotland doesn't have anything; I think that's why they moved up the Grand Prix. Still GP has looked pretty quiet since it left Preston.

with regars to the men, yes it is too big and wouldnt be suited as much to a snooker comp, BUT it has all the bits round it a succesful tournament needs - transport hotels etc....
IMO the best place in manchester to hold a competition would be manchester central. its oong and thin rather than purpose built, you could have a section of it cordoned off easily, have two or three tables with full seating round them with plenty of room for other tables, BBC studio, players areas, public areas etc.... yeas it is an old building but even with it being in a city centre location next to a tram line and busy road, you wont get half the noise you get coming in from outside as you do at telford... police sirens, geese, birds on the roof all quite loud and noticable in there - anmd this cant be good for players trying to play matches
