Only problem with him is that he's not a young prospect anymore.. He is a player at his peak, which will probably last until he's 30.. So, if he doesn't win something big in the next few years, he'll be really disappointed..

And Odrl, I'd go to Ronnie, not for his play, but he was very focused to win the matches and he seems to have found some life with his long ball potting..

    • Ronnie in impressive form: 79% long potting success, 94% potting success, safety in the 70% area and that steal to go 8-3 up was just perfect.
      Mark didn't capitalise enough.

Now the real final. Yes, my opinion and I stand by it.
Go ahead, Messrs. Higgins and O'Sullivan, show us why you're the best players in the circuit!
      But please, no deciders.
Oh, and if one of you thinks about making a maxi, please don't leave it to the 17th frame.
Or else there's gonna be damages claim on my part.

        • [QUOTE=doorag;441268]yeah, he's had a difficult draw in this tournament and higgins is next!
          QUOTE]

I would rate Higgins' draw even more difficult. In current form, Walden and Robertson are probably the two worst possible first round draws. Well maybe Wenbo could be worse then Walden... And now O'Sullivan..

Well, I don't think Neil has that all-rounded game to stick to them after 30.. Just an opinion, though..

Once he will start struggling with his long ball potting, it will be the start of his decline.. The question is how many years will he keep this outstanding standard..Taking all this into account, I expect him to win two or three more ranking events in his remaining career, one per season until he reaches 30, then he might add one or two more not at his peak, which will get him to something like 8 or 9, which is a very good number in my opinion..

I think the three-year-period will be his best chance to win a major, as winning a world title can not be matched by making a triple of Shanghai Masters..

..but who will be stopping him from winning after he turns 30, though?
if it'll be just 2-3 other guys, he might well still continue winning even tournaments - you never know how draw turns out, or when murphy catches another cold.

                  • got back from Telford about an hour ago. very entertaining day though it could have been longer. I think Selby lost the match in the afternoon session really. If he had come out 5-3 down then I think the match would have lasted a lot longer.

I got to see 21 frames on tuesday with the roll on roll off but only 12 today but they were top quality. highlight was probably O'Sullivan's dispute with the referee. very funny. I never know whether he does those things to keep himself amused or what.

Shame that there wasn't a bigger crowd on the other table (I don't think Higgins was too impressed) but generally I think the crowds have been good this year. hopefully snooker will stay in telford in some form as it is easy for lot of people to get to.

It has been an excellent tournament so far and O'Sullivan / Higgins should be great on saturday. It was a terrible tournament last year, topped off by a dreadful final that Murphy won in spite of he way he played not because of it. So much better this year, much higher quality.

and if anyone has a spare ticket for saturday lying around, let me know
