  • Changes to the Welsh Open?

What changes would you guys like to see to the Welsh Open if any?

I would like to see atleast the quarter final matches played on the one table set up, it just makes it better for the fans and the croud and its invaluable experience for the players also.

Possibly reducing all the matches apart from the semi's and the final to best out of 7 might make it more intresting to the viewers, but I dont think it gets many on BBC wales anyway exepct the die-hard fans

This event needs to be put onto BBC 2 in England.

As I have said before I actually quite like going to Newport for this event and I don't think I have missed going to it in 6 years, but to raise the profile it will have to move eventually, there has been some talk that it will move to Cardiff which I am sure will help bring in more people to watch the matches and raise the profile but I don't think this is going to happen till at least 2012/2013, (This is when contract etc run out for Newport)

Normally at the Welsh Open the quarters are played on one table, but the last one was changed to two tables and two quarters played at the same time.
I disagree with you and think this way is better than having all 4 played on one table, because in 2009, one of the quarters lasted approx 5 hours, thus delaying the start times of the other games. This resulted in a midnight finish, and i think you'll agree, this is not good for the fans.

Lol I was thinking the same thing... This guy has to go!!! Isn't he the one that was also doing the interviews after the finals?

I like Darren Morgan's commentary though

Yes, this is the single most important thing to do, they just cant let him spoilt the fine moment with questiosn about captains licence or something like that.

I agree. I seem to remember it was more like 12:45 they finished.

I finished work on the Friday, had a leisurely dinner, showered and changed, then did the 100-mile drive to Newport and was there well before Neil Robertson's match had started. It was a scheduled 7pm or maybe 7:30 start.

Apart from not being good for the fans, it isn't particularly good for the players in a roll-on-roll-off format when it is so likely they'll be twiddling their thumbs not knowing how long it'll be before they start.

Also forgot to say would like to hear more Dominic Dale, think he is a great presenter and not a bad commentator either.

If you have a Sky box, it's on channel 991 (BBC2 Wales).

if you've got sky you can dial up bbc 1 and 2 wales as opposed to your default of BBC england (or whatever your region is)
