The draw and format for the qualifying rounds of the Welsh Open is now available.

The qualifiers run from February 8 to 11 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. The final stages then run from February 14 to 20 at the Newport Centre. For ticket details for Newport, click here.

Things will be interesting, if we get a Higgins vs O'Sullivan match-up that early

And just look at the potential qualifiers. You have Gould, Liang, Day and Stevens. You couldn't really have picked four stronger players.

It's just a shame they've dumbed down the early rounds.

But you got the ranking points wrong unless they have been changed and WSA hasn't updated their ranking points file for the season.
From what they state it's 5000 points for the winner, not 7000 and everything else in proportion.

The lower quarter with Selby, King, Dott and Robbo also looks interesting plus possible qualifiers beeing Higginson, Bingham and Doherty amongst others. The one problem I see is that the fireworks could go of the tournament too quickly.

Naah. We could have Ronnie and Higgins meet in the quarter finals Higgins/Ronnie meet Ding in the semis, Mark Williams and Neil Robertson in the semis, another Higgins/Williams final, the possibilties look quite mouthwatering.
