actually I think this extra points for a whitewash thing is a bit unfair for such a short format
well, at least reduce it to 2 or 3 extra points

No, of course the rules can't be changed after the game has started.

But Williams is proving to be a good pick with these two results. He's already scored the points one would normally get for reaching the SF, and there's every chance he goes very far in the tournament. I wouldn't have predicted this, considering he was up against a "nasty" qualifier.

not saying we should change the rules in the middle of the contest (though I wouldn't mind)
it just needs to be taken into account for future tournaments
eg if a player whitewashes his opponent at the Crucible he gets the same 5 points I mean how can we possibly compare the Crucible with its first to ten and these short sprints at the Welsh open?

If there is a whitewash at the crucible user who has that player in team gets 100 points and wins the contest automatically(if someone else doesnt get a whitewash)

Yes, I agree with the sentiment. Also, there are some inconsistencies with the scoring system. For instance, some tournaments had extra points for the highest break or a maximum, while the last two didn't.

But ok, as long as the scoring system is known in advance and is the same for everyone, it doesn't bother me too much.

Scoring has been a massive problem for quite a long time, and I'm struggling to find a way to figure this out.
I'm relieved to see that at least there's no injustice between participants.

But still, any new ideas or just the share of your opinions on the subject will be appreciated

I have got to be in with a shout of winning this
What with Williams's whitewashes early on , then Higgins winning it, it can only look good

Close, but if I've calculated things correctly, you are one point behind Elaine and levon.

Never mind, its the taking part not the winning that counts..
