Good stuff from Higgins now. He won the previous frames from Maguire's mistakes, but it was a brilliant long red this time.

Maguire needs a really good response after the interval. He made some really good breaks against Williams and Selby when he was losing the momentum. I wouldn't put it past him to do it again.

And it was a good response. This match is nowhere near over.

Higgins on the brink of defending his title. Can Maguire stage a comeback?

Didn't see it, but I assume Higgins couldn't hit a ball directly, so wouldn't forfeit the frame after three misses.

Yes, that was the explanation I needed, there were no ball on directly. Thank You.

                        Good Day,

This is the first time I have been able to follow a complete tourny, thanks to a forum member that shared this link (http://www.fromsportcom.com/). It was great, Just wanted to post again for my canadian friends on this board, it actually worked well, very clear and the commentators actually spoke English.
                        Cheers,

What a great victory from a great man......

Super snooker from both players but glad john won it all, and did it for his old man.

Is it only 2 matches he has lost since he came back i.e. one PTC final and at the Masters?

To win six of the last seven frames is pretty crazy. What a match player.

Yes, he is actually undefeated in the major ranking events since his loss to Davis at the WC. He is also the first player to defend a title in six years, if you don't count Robertson's World Open title as a defense of his Grand Prix title from the previous year.

No midnight finish today unfortunately. It probably wouldn't have been even if it had gone to a decider, since they played so quickly. But it was still very enjoyable. Higgins confirms his status as the world's best player, while Maguire at least puts himself in the second group of contenders for the World title this year.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
