Only the very best can perform regardless of circumstances and John has proved tonight that right now, he is absolutely the best of the best.

Obviously Mr Higgins has decided the bst way to defend himself against chagres of throwing matches is not to lose any.

LOL A fine win indeed. I´m amazed by the way he has handled the tough times away from the table.

If Carlsberg made snooker players, John Higgins would still win!!

Match fixing scandal, suspension, return, UK title, death of father, Welsh Open title... it's been quite a year for Higgins so far.

All it needs now is World Championship No. 4

Sounds like he'd need another 'sad' event for this to happen...

Yep, after the long break the game looked like 40+ break from Maguire, Higgins takes the frame... and he took them all 4-0 till MSI. And after that he won the final quite easily.

Quite like against Ali yesterday, after the initially tight match turned, Higgins won it not looking back.

Is Higgins winning matches easier now than 1 year ago? He used to have a lot of decider or 1-frame-short-of-decider matches.

That's Higgins's 23rd ranking event win, putting him third in the overall list (behind Hendry (36) and Davis (28)).

Higgins must be favourite for the WC. There's no doubt he's the world's best player right now.

Great win for Higgins, after winning the first 4 frames this evening one could feel the title was his.

I hope this is the last time they mention JH Sr in the post-match interview to be honest - it's obviously upsetting for him to talk about it and dragging it out for every tournament seems like a cheap trick to get dramatic moments in the post-match.

In all honesty I think it was inevitable that there was going to be some mention of John's father, especially as its been only a matter of days since his passing. I certainly don't think it was a cheap trick!
