Just got back from seeing Alan beat that Rod Lawler - Alan looked positively speedy around the table compared to Lawler! Is he one of the slowest players ever??
One of the Eurosport commentators said earlier that he is the most 'methodical' player on the Tour, so probably yes..
I might get flamed for this, but Rod Lawler is the kind of player who I really wouldn't miss if he would retire/got relegated.

Thanks for the 2 points Alan!

As a Mcmanus fan I enjoy all the tactical play and am not usually too bothered if games are fairly slow but Lawler is on another planet! To be fair to him, after spending a few minutes (at times I'm sure it was a few minutes!) thinking about a shot he quite often came up with something good - although all too often the great idea wouldn't translate into a perfectly executed shot and he'd be back in his seat. I got the feeling he thinks too much about some shots rather than going on instinct - when he was in 'full flow' (about one shot per 30 secs ) he was much better. That was the first time I've seen him play live so I could be wrong.

At first look I thought it was the Crucible because of that fantastic maroon colour. Much better than the bright green or blues that are all too frequent nowadays in arenas

I agree completely, it looks more classy. Now if they'd just ditch those silver legs...
I just miss the old set at the Crucible, the new one looks really cheap and tacky.
                    Now 2-1 Parrott.

There are indeed no others words than terrible - though he started well...
I saw that going differently in my mind

When he took the first and looked solid, i thought he may have a chance, but he lost the second, missed easy balls, was gifted the third and then just blew up.

He could and should have lost 5-1 to a Joe Perry who really struggled quite a lot at times.

King's stuffing was a surprise too, there's been some very strange results all round this season...
