Grrrr....why does this always happen? My predictions look so good at the start of a round, only to end up being completely cr@ps...

To be fair Parrott is doing exactly what his Ranking suggests he should be doing - losing in the last qualifying round of every tournament.

Michael Holt: "I’m still having the odd lapse in focus, thinking about the price of fish when I’m down on a shot."

*laughs* Red - salmon; pink - trout; white - cod; yellow - goldfish and so on and so forth, so it isn't that random after all, Michael Do eat something before matches.

As for John Parrot, he had a couple of lucky frames, but the scoreline of 2-2 didn't reflect the quality of the game, IMO. Maybe it's time to give the spot on the tour to someone else? That last red was horrible...

        And Higginson beat Fu. Good

well, that is going to happen soon anyway... and Perry was painful to watch too - I predicted him to win Hamilton easily, but now I am in doubt. his misses were as bad as Parrott's - it's just he didn't miss as often as JP.

I don't think it was that painful - yeah fair enough there were a lot of misses, but it was perry's first match of the tournament - it will only get better from here. And maybe when your playing someone like parrott it doesnt really challenge you enough to play at your best!!

I think Perry will improve his game easily for the next match. It was something quite else to watch him than to watch Parrot, struggling and pulling faces. Perry had some grand long pots, did Parrot get even ONE? He did eventually give up and played safeties instead towards the end there. Perry also got a century (127) in.

I agree, Perry should be dragged down a bit by Parrot, or they just did so to each other.
Though we expect a good match between Perry and Hamilton, both of them would put a lot effort in it that's for sure.

I agree Maija, Perry improved his game in the final frames while Parott's snooker got even worse. But Perry didn't t give that good impression anayway. It could have been JP s last snooker match on tele I m afraid...
I saw that going differently in my mind

I don't think Perry is the type of player that usually plays into tournament - he either plays impressive from the start or is not good... well, the next match will really tell us - and Joe hasn't been playing too well lately, missing Malta and will miss China open (lost to Tom Ford) - hopefully will play better.

I'm not sure if I agree with that - I think towards the end of the match last night he was starting to show improvement in the way he was playing and this will be shown in his match against hamilton. I could be wrong of course but if you look at his performance this season he has definately improved - of course his ranking position refelcts this as it looks promising the he will be re-entering the top 16 this year. Yes, he did not qualify for malta or china but all it takes is one bad match, which even the best players have every now and then.
