Did Selby play under his level April ?
Yes. He was out of sorts, a very nervous start, and Ronnie punished him for almost all his misses. and Ronnie outplayed him tactically, a lot of Selby's mistakes came from safeties.

and Burnett seems to be doing well against Murphy (2-0)

      and well-done Ronnie!

      • Selby seemed nervous and under a lot of pressure to me. Not like Ronnie never gave him a chance because he did. Plenty of them. Mark just didn't know how to capitalise on them.
Apart from that 70-odd break of Ronnie's his breakbuilding was quite average during the first four frames. The cup of tea seemed to have helped, though.
What a cracker we're in for in the quarters, regardless of who wins it! But for now...Well done, Ronnie!

          • In the after match interview, Ronnie went on quite a bit about why he has to change his game to keep himself interested for another one or two years. When asked who he wanted to play next, he said he preferred playing Hendry because Hendry, Higgins, Williams and now Ding are the players that would challenge him to bring up his own game.

            • nice stuff from Davis, looks good and a good break, 82 points

but that first missed straight red to centre pocket - don't know, he might have heard how I was swearing at my TV...

                  • I'm almost looking forward to Ronnie's interviews more than watching him play snooker nowadays!

his snooker is easier to understand than his spoken english, so I prefer the first

Hello M, of course I still prefer his snooker but you just never know what he's going to say next!

                        • I watched briefly the Hamilton v Harold game during the interval. There was hardly anyone watching (I didn't see one anyway). Just feel sorry for these two guys.

It's difficult to fill a hall with snooker fans during a week at the best of times (with the exception of the big tournaments) so a Thursday afternoon watching Harold and Hamilton might be the smallest draw of the afternoon, even in Newport. Maybe their Mum's would struggle to get motivated to watch it?

I wonder if, logistically and in terms of spectators it would be better scheduling a tournament on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and then Friday, Saturday, Sunday.... thereby maximising the "weekend" fans possibility of attending??

Sorry, but I am in a drole mood today. Not for long as I will get another hiding in my snooker match this evening!
