  • I looked on my Sky planner, on Monday 16th coverage on BBC 2 Wales starts at 1:00pm and the same for one of the Eurosport channels.

Does play actually start at 10:00am on some of the days or does it always start at 1:00pm?

Had a look at most bookmakers and there doesn't seem to be any prices yet for the Welsh. Probably a little too early yet

        • Is the Welsh Open being shown on the BBC? They showed it last year, didn't they?

          • It is on BBC Wales. (don't think it is on other BBC regions) As long as you have digital you'll have BBC Wales. It will probably be on Eurosport as well.

There were 4 tables last year, three 'in front' and one a bit hidden behind. The outside right table is the main TV table and ouside left, table 2, also had cameras rolling.

              • Just checked the provisional rankings- and with 1400 points for those who win their first round matches Steve can move up to 17th in the provisional world rankings if he beats Ronnie- and that is because Stuart Bingham, Jamie Cope- i.e those immediately above him have not qualified for the final stages

I'm sorry but thats a very big 'if' IMO. All Steve can hope to do is contain Ronnie for a couple of frames up to the mid session interval, if he is lucky, before Ronnie gets going and runs away with it.

You could tell when Davis was playing Ding recently that that was all he could hope to do against a player like that, who can so massively outscore him at any opportunity. Davis seemed to sense he was doomed as soon as Ding got going. Ronnie is the same but even more unstoppable.

                  • Jamie Cope has qualified for the final stages of China Open, Bingham and Davis have not qualified. Nevertheless it would be great if Steve could beat ROS, everything would have to go right for him and it would have to be a bad day for ROS for that to be possible. Hopefully Steve qualifies for Worlds, then another good season and one visit to the bussines end of a major tournament might see him back in top 16. A lot of if's , but anything can happen , players are not machines and sometimes winning a match can virtually be only a fraction of ball away.

That is excatly what Davis needs to do. After that he still needs to take all his canches, because ROS is not going to give up. Can't see this happening, but im hoping

dannyd0g... I share your pessimism for Steve's chances...
looking back on Ronnie's semi-final whitewash of Hendry in the WC a year ago * it's all about how O'Sullivan feels like playing... maybe mercifully, out of respect to Steve, but I doubt it...
I predict O'Sullivan may have matured enough to be ready and able and now willing to put his old idol mercifully to sleep... 5-0

                          *
                          O'Sullivan recorded breaks of 135, 133, 126, 123, 93, 87, 85 and 87 in the semi-final. At one stage he amassed 448 points without reply.
Hendry, in fact, did not pot a ball in seven frames.

                          • What will make it even worse for Steve is that Ronnie respects him. This means there's no chance Ronnie will mess around and be completely disinterested. That may have been Davis's only hope.

                              • And you can also say that the best chance to get Ronnie is first thing in a tournament.

Don't be surprised if Davis does pull off a shock
