I E-Mailed WSA couple of years ago to ask them to look at rejigging the calendar as Jan/Feb has too much going on with lots of long breaks elsewhere especially for the lower ranked players. For them after the WC qualifiers there is a massive break until Aug/Sept - still at least they can get a job to earn some money!!
Jamie suffered with three qualifiers & WC qualifiers in Jan 2008 which he had to play with a broken hand. Also, at this time of year many people have flu etc. Don't know why the majority of qualifiers have to played in such a short time span.
Hopefully with many more tournaments in the pipeline this will even out - just as long as these new events are not for Top 32 players only!!

Some high breaks from Drago today suggest that The Boss is close to his best again. Three more rounds to go and he will be super-sharp at the main event next week

The qualifying will be more exciting as the week progresses, at the beginning of the week, there are players you would think don't have much of a chance in progressing to the finals.

Matthew Selt has done it twice this year from 1st round

I'm happy to see Jimmy Robertson and Matthew Selt go through

I'd've liked to have seen Daniel Wells and Michael White go through too though...

Exactly my opinion about the wild cards for those two players as well. I just don´t think Gray has done enough impact in snooker to get a wild card just on his name. As I remember it, Joe Johnson didn´t get one when he fell off the tour, and he had a cruicible title to his name.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I´d rather see the wild cards given to promising young players.

110Sport.tv has published a news report about the qualifiers, and not a mention of wether or not they will broadcast any of it, or any reason for this. Strange.

Any idea as to why has Joe Jogia been docked a frame?....

Yes - he was late to the table for his match. He claims the clock in the practice room was slow!!

Tony Drago beats Peter Lines 5-2, Jimmy Michie next For Tony Tornado Go Tony go one of my favourite players of all time, that win should get him back in the top 64 of the provisional rankings and keep him on the tour, let's hope he can make the TV stages of a ranking event again, be great to see Tony back on TV.

That's a very good win for Tony, Lines is having a great season, so beating him is quite an achievement. He won 2 matches in every qualifying event so far, would be nice to win a third one against Michie tomorrow.
