Disappointing performance from Mark. I was expecting a close match but Maguire totally outplayed him. Every credit to Stephen though, it was quality stuff. Williams' safety at the beginning of the match was way too poor and then he made two bad shots when trying to split the pack. Also, it was obvious that the pressure was very high on him after the interval.
I do hope in the semifinals we will see the today's missing fireworks.
Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman 2009 Grand Prix Fantasy Game winner
I enjoyed Maguire's performance. This half of the draw only seemed to have Williams as a serious contender, but I think Maguire can hold his own against anyone in the final two days now.
Carter through as well, so the top 4 seeds make the SF. It's over a year since that last happened.
Good to see the defending champion come through:snooker: He wasn't really tested by Ryan (who's obviously going through a bad patch), but he'll definitely need to up his game against Mags if he's to have a shot at the title defence:snooker::snooker:

O'Sullivan-Higgins winner is a lock now to win the title..Maguire or Carter simply not good enough to win it..
Haven't we said the same thing during the UK's? Sometimes their matches can be very draining physically & emotionally
On paper, you're quite right... They are the two best players in the world but I still think it's wide open... On their day, any of those 4 can lift the trophy on Sunday evening:snooker:
