Just came in from school and saw that Ebdon has been hammered 5-0 by Barry Hawkins, no disrespect to Barry, but that should be a match Ebdon should be winning easily, what happened to him?

Enjoying that game MNO, mainly because they are two of the 'lesser' players in the tournament and it will be good to see either of them have a good run.

We have a decider in the Stevens - Pinches match

I still find it hard to believe that Matthew has been finding it difficult to stamp his authority against players that (on paper) he's supposed to beat comfortably!!! No disrespect to Pinches but Matthew is a much better player with a lot more experience in the televised stages of tournaments

Well that's a bit silly, because Ebdon is 14th in the world rankings, while Hawkins is 17th. So it was always going to be a close match. Another thing to be considered is Ebdon's inconsistency, especially in 1st rounds, as well as the great record Hawkins has against Ebdon.

                Same with Peter and Hawkins
                those guys are dangerous too!
thing I can understand is why Pinches is no52
hes reaching venues quite often...seems to mess up with other tournaments!

Still, bear in mind I didn't see the match. But surely, on paper, 5-0 to Hawkins is flattering him?

It well may. You can always get an out of sorts opponent in the 1st round. But most of those are filtered out before the 2nd round, so the true test for Hawkins will be the winner of Maguire-Dale.

I actually wouldn't put it past him to reach the QF. Judging by the breaks he made against Ebdon, he must be playing quite well.

                          • Lovely stuff. One ball potted in 20 minutes, with the balls as awkward as you could possibly make them. This could take an hour.

21-1 Stevens (at the table) in the decider!

Edit: 48-1 Stevens (still at the table with some nice pots & an awkward table & 5 reds left)
