      • 2-0 now - I checked on line and incredibly Tony Knowles was 4-1 to win this game. couldn't resist throwing a tenner on it at those odds. I know Rodney Goggins is a main tour player and has to be favourite, but Knowles has just had three matches, got some confidence and was the world's no.2 player and Goggins has never done anything of note in his career. Goggins may still win, but it certainly wouldn't be a surprise if Knowles wins this one as well, although I'd be surprised if he beats Gould.

Yeah and 1-7 for Goggins. I thought Goggins would have been favourite, but thought something like 1-2 and 6-4 would have been more realistic.

Come on Tony! (and Jimmy tomorrow and then JP next week!)

Doesn't the world champion automatically go through to the final stages of every event, without needing to qualify? I believe that's what happened to Murphy when he was ranked outside the top 16 (21st) during the 2005/06 season as world champion.

That said, great though it would be to see Knowles at the Crucible, I can't see him getting past Davis in the final on the Nugget's home turf (at least, not again).

If he was on the tour then yes but he could only get on if he was awarded a wildcard. Would be amazing if he won it and wasn't awarded it.

Well, meanwhile he is 3-4 down to Goggins so has some work to do. Plenty of time though...

                      • Goggins seems to have woken up now after getting off to a slow start. Knowles does indeed have some work to do. (Good to see you back DG)
