        • I'm following the situation closely here but in short, pretty much.

With his win earlier he went up to 63rd in the rankings which would mean that he starts tournaments next season in the second round and not the first, but Long and Lines winning tonight means that he is down to 65th again and out of the all-important top 64.

He is however top of the one-year rankings not including those already in the 64 so is all but assured of staying on the tour via that route (top eight survive).

All of that is assuming that my maths is correct

          • Ian Preece is currently clinging on to his tour place by 57 points by the way, every little helps eh?

            • cheers matt so it seems his match with lawler is key if he wins
thathe should have a good chance of getting in the top 64 and meaning he will play one less qualifying round next season

at least he is top of the 1 year list

              • Atthasit really needs to win this decider, with all the people just below him in the 1 year list having won.

                • Good point actually, forgot they meet in the next round. Yeah as I've worked it out, on the two year list Selt and Lawler are currently 65th and 66th so if Matt can win then as it stands he'd move up to about 59th.

A win for Lawler though would send him up into a similar position. If he loses all is not lost though as I have him second to Selt on the one-year list, thanks to his ongoing run in China I guess.

Yep he certainly does, I believe that he is still 5th on the one-year list at the moment, but he'd have an anxious wait, a shame given the fact that he's had a pretty good season on the whole.

                    • Oh, wait a minute, I didn't realise the list on your blog had been updated. Maybe he's not in quite as much trouble as I thought.

                      • Yeah it's going to be tight isn't it, he's lost 10-9 against Jones now so he'll just have to watch and hope that people like Couch, Bedford, Spick, Norman, Wells and Wallace drop out. If four of that six win, he's pretty much out I think.

                        • if selt is top on the 1 year list anyway i dont think theres enough tournaments left to push him out...even if he lost to Lawlor but beating lawlor will give him a chance to elevate his status in the game and enter at the second QR.

All is not lost if that happens though - they could well give a wildcard to somebody who narrowly misses out, especially as there are 2 this time around. Li Hang would absolutely deserve one if somehow he doesn't qualify.

Just shows a) how hard it is to stay on and b) how important the WC is. Li Hang has lost in only two first round matches yet he could well be knocked off the tour.

                              • Absolutely, and because the IBSF World U-21's will not take place, I understand that there will be two wildcards at least.
