Hope so! He has looked in good nick today - not at his best, but moving along quite nicely - I'll be back in Antrim in 9 days - I hope I don't see him at the snooker club as he'll still be in Sheffield.

He does remind me of Mark Williams in terms of how their career progressed and style (although Allen is quicker), but both very good long ball potters and prioritise winning the frame more than big breaks - williams did learn to improve in frames where it was getting bogged down.

The way Allen is playing this morning Ronnie will have to play a lot better, especially his long potting and safety otherwise I think Allen will beat him.

And point made - Black to yellow position and brown to blue going all round the table and then smash the black - he's enjoying it. Who said people don't like to showboat?!

When he's in full gear Mark Allen is a joy to watch! Just like in frame 7 there.

I agree Spike, Allen is looking so fluent and his long potting is far better than ROS going off ROS last match, so I think anyone who says he has (no chance) against ROS does not know snooker as well as they think they do.
He has every chance and I think it will be a great game.

Underdog maybe, but I think he will do it, he looks classy enough to me. COME ON MARK ALLEN this is your year, show the world your the real deal.

Theres no doubt he is the real deal; the way he made the top 16 in only 3 seasons is enough evidence of that..

Whether he beats Ronnie or not it will be a proper test for Ronnie.

Allen will be a skip in the part for Ronnie. I stand by my decision that he will be blasted away by a long mile.

And you said you don't speak a second language! .. Never thought of SARCASM?

So, anyway, it looks like Carter is safe enough, but Neil or Davis can knock him out.
I didn't watch the match, but I did read the review.
                  Anyway, good luck to Neil.

Carter was lucky he was up against Greene. If he had had Bingham or Hawkins of the players already out I think he would've struggled.

I like Carter, but that statement is wishful thinking. Based on the first round performance it looks like the rocket is ready to fly by anyone. If he is in top form no one stands a chance. :snooker:

Ali Carter has never won against ROS in competition, is that correct?

                            that's correct. H2H is 11-0 to Ronnie.

Though Ronnie did say yesterday that 17 days was too long at the place and he didn't want to be remembered as a prolific winner

Ronnie usually climbs the walls after a couple of days when he's out of his familar turf (must have been a cat in a former life ). With a gap of 5 days untill his next match it may prove the right decision to go back home or stay with friends rather than building unwanted pressure in Sheffield.

As for the other quote ... don't be mistaken. Yes he wants to be recognised as an entertainer, but if you doubt he loves to win, go back to the vids of this Masters 2009 win.
