Well i suppose a lot will depend on if Ebdon can pinch this and the last frame of this session. Though Ebdon is well renowned for his comebacks - so even if he does fall heavily behind you can never discount him totally from coming back and end up beating Bond.

        • Yeah, come on Jamie! He's good to watch on form.

Looks like a good clearance this.

          • wow copes playing really well today, that last clearance to make it 7-5 was somthing special.

In the other match murphy is missing all kinds of easy balls you'd normally expect him to pot

                  • i really like how cope is handling himself. perry had some chances to snooker Cope but his snookers were very easy to escape, and cope made a cracking long pot to win that last frame. Perry is in first among the balls, fluked a ball and kept shooting. Made a very bad positioning shot on the red next to the black, now he has no color, stopped his break at 32. Perry played a bad safety let cope in, leaving a red ball in front of the middle. Cope made a 50, then Perry played another poor safety, letting Cope in again. Perry needed one snooker to win, Cope snookered Perry on the green, Perry left it in front of the hole, but Cope missed it.
Perry needed a snooker but he failed to snooker Cope, then cope made the green, brown... and he is now up 9-6...
                    Good for Cope.

I thought so too; very very impressive, and cool temprement too.

I was looking for a slight outsider with decent odds to place a little bet on, and he's definately it now. Will add a bit more excitement to that section of the draw at least.

                      • Cope has got this match now. Perry has had no form since the UK Championships yet many were tipping him. Higgins v Cope if played could be a cracker.

                        • Many members talked rubish about Jamie yesterday when he trailed 4-1. I don't see them on this thread lately. Great stuff by Jamie, clinical.

                          • Yeah Cope played the best I've seen him play when he beat Higgins at the UK 2007. In a first to 9 match it was an outstanding performance and I am not exaggerating when I say it was one of those days where he looked like a world beater. He'll need to be consistent against Higgins in the next round, but with Cope he has the ability, but it is all about 'on his day' Inconsistency is his issue.

                            • You know, I heard people saying how Joe is more experienced and things liek that, and how Cope lacks a good defense but I dont think it is true.
Joe's safety is not good at all in th elast few games, and Cope played quite well despite the pressure, which showed his experience. Joe Perry on the other hand seemed to be feeling the pressure and not responding well.
If he can hold his nerve, he should be able to win, but it all depends on his temperament.
Of course, it is not over yet, Cope needs to complie a sizable break here, he is on 36 now, lost position a bit, now is on a thin brown. Decided to roll u[p, came short!!! Foul!!!

Yes it could be - and no doubt Higgins would relish the challenge plus getting revenge from his 9-3 drubbing from Cope in last year's uk championship.
