I don't mind King, and I don't mind you liking him. But this constant talk of how great a player and how tough he is is driving me crazy. Especially seeing as it's completly not true.

    • The Boss,

I am with you. I think Mark King will white wash Ronnie in the finals, and then Ronnie will run to Dave Harold for lessons. He will come back the next year a stronger than ever player, only to lose to his mentor, Dave Harold, in the semis. Dave Harold and Tony Drago will then play each other in the final, which sets the beginning of the Tony Drago saga for the next 10 years.

(i think it may have been in the 7th frame rather than the 8th but still.....)

yeah i remember someone saying neil would, and he did come shockingly close, as did ronnie and hendry potting 10 reds and 9 blacks

                • I didn't see the whole match but I was a little shocked to see Davis play like that. I can't remember him making that many mistakes.

                  • That final missed of its spot in the 6ht frame...

Neil gave Steve a plenty of chances, and all of them he ultimately wasted. That black was the turningpoint of the match I am afraid. Robertson will probalbly play much better today, now that he can see the winning line. Even if Davis could somehow get his best form out there , he would have to win the first four frames- and that is simply too much.

Robertson on the otherhand will have to up his game against Carter. Neils performance was far from solid, he let Davis's poor form affect his own game. I have seen Neil play much better.

As a Davis fan I am, however looking forward to todays dose of masocistic pleasure he provides us. Or to put it more sophisticated, - the Greek tragedy yet to be unfoulded before our eyes on green baize.

                      • As I was watching Steve Davis, I kept wondering how he got through the qualifier. He must have a better game than that!

But what is done is done, and the next session is another story. I hope Davis can up his game a few notches and put up a good battle.

I saw videos of Steve Davis at the Crucible when he just looked like a teenager and now he is in his 50s and still playing in the Crucible. That is truly something.

Yesterday evening I was watching Eurosport and Bjorn Haneveer (a decent Belgian player) indeed said Davis is still able to produce good snooker, as he has already shown this season. But the fact he doesn't practice a lot anymore does make him more vulnerable even on easy shots when the pressure is higher than usual, as at the WC.

                          • Just couldn't stand his mime around the table and his reactions after every second shot. It's a shame as he still a great player. If he could hold himself from "Playing" with the audience and just play the balls, it could be 5-4 at the end of the session.

Yes, exactly. He seems to have developed some interaction with the audience. And the 5-4 was very much possible and we still should have had a 'battle' today. We need the clinical Davis back around the table
