  • Mark really let the tip thing get to him.

Very happy for Hendry though, once again he has made a remarkable comeback in the first round. I'm pretty confident he will raise his game against someone who plays more consistently than Mark did.

Congratulations to Dott too. Very emotional in the end, he truly deserves.

Yeah, I'm gutted but all credit to Stephen for taking his chances & making that incredible clearance in the 13th frame.
      Give'em hell, Mark :snooker:

        • It was a bit disappointing finish to the Hendry-Williams match, Mark was unable to make a 40 in the last 5 frames.

Nice to see Dott through, maybe I should have put some money on all the seeds winning their first round matches at 150-1..

          • Er, in many, many years of watching snooker I dont think Ive seen a player try so hard to lose!

Williams positional play and shot choice was incredibly suspicious. Fair enough he changed tip but he was completely under hitting even the bread n butter positional shots.

Very dodgey match if you ask me.

I second that, Williams' play was a bit weird.
Well done to Stephen for getting over the finish line though.

The best match so far at the Crucible.
                Good breaks by both "gips"
And yeah it was fantastic to see that emotions at the end.
Dott is in top 32 thats for sure.
I ve got the feeling he will be in quarter.
His next opponent is Selby or walden and with form they played today i don't see them through.

                • Have seldom seen a player getting so much flukes and run of the ball as Williams today - yet I was never really worried Hendry would lose - Mark played terribly in the second half of the match.

                  • Im not calling Mark a cheat, but it look as though he deliberately didnt try to win despite being very much in the match.

He started playing stupid shots even when they were tied at 7 a piece, as though he thought 'stuff it, if they go in- they go in'.

Then positionally he finished horrifically short on several reds and predictably missed them instead of playing safe. Lets be honest, even with a different cue after a handful of shots with it you couldnt misjudge those shots as horribly as he did

It wasnt even like pressure could be to blame because lets face it, Williams didnt really feel pressure even in his prime. So it was very peculiar to see him play like he did especially in the last couple of frames.

Ah, Well, COME ON HENDRY!!! HENDRY THE 8TH!!!!

                        • It's true, the flukes Mark were getting were unbelievable yet he failed to capitalise on them.
Was anyone dying for that bloke in the audience to say 'yes!' and annoy the ref one more time as much as me?

                              • McLeod looked very impressive in that frame it has to be said. I'm hoping for a deciding frame.
