  • Swail kept attacking the black and eventually left it for Fu .....he should have been more cautious......looks like Fu won the match.

I don't understand why some value Cope that much. His game is very one-dimentional for me. He's a tremendous attacking potter but when that doesn't work he's got nothing to fall back on. One could have expected that with years into the pro circuit he would develop something of an alternative game, but he hasn't. Against experienced match players like Perry if he isn't on a good day he's got no chance.

      • Yeah like its been said above Cope doesn't have anyway near the saftey game of Perry so the result doesn't surprise me that much, as much as I like Cope's attacking play you can only so far without a good saftey game in the top world 32.

        • I think Cope will be very happy if he will be be trailling 6-3 after this session, as thing are going right now it can be much worse for him. 4-1 Perry

P.S. I totally agree with Mon, on his day Cope can pot his way out of everyting and he can defeat anyone...if not, he stands no chance against experienced players who can relly on safety play to put him under pressure.

          • its looking increasingly likely the top 16 will be the last 16.

Walden, Hawkins, Cope, Bingham and even Swail had a chance of a top 16 place next season providing they could first get past rd1 and then see which of the likes of Ding King ebdon and hendry slipped up and then having to push on a bit further.

Cope does not look good against Perry .

Remarkably given the season he's had, Mark King is looking very good for keeping his place!

in fact the only change is probably going to end up williams for dott, and given their one yr ranking points last season, that was pretty much nailed on!

I don't value him that much, just had a feeling he'll outpot Perry, nothing more.

                  • Marco played very well indeed, 3 centuries, very clinical. Shame Joe wasn't there tonight. There wasn't much of a match ...

He didn't snatched it, but won it in style. With 5-4 he's got every chance to progress in the last 16. He has the motive to get in the top 16, that's why i think he'll win the match tomorrow.

                            • Cope looks very fluid and was very comfortable around the black spot, a great break builder. I am happy to see him coming back.
I think Joe Perry cues the ball and controls his cue ball better. But if he hands an open table to Cope by missing or poor safety play, Cope will finish it. I like the way Cope handles himself under pressure. He could beat Perry, and he is not an inexperienced player.

                              • I would like to see Cope beat Perry and win a couple of more rounds at least - he's good to watch in full flow & it's not as if we've seen a lot of him this season on tv.
