Good on Jamie Burnett for winning that last frame of the session. Gives him an outside chance of causing an upset i suppose.

I have a sneaking suspicion Allen might start strongly tomorrow. Dont know why just do. Hopefully Murphy ups his game too.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Maguire was in good form last night because Burnett handed him many chances - & to be fair Burnett didn't put him under any real pressure!
Like i said in a earlier post Burnett did well to be only 3 behind & i would very much like to see Burnett make a closer match of it.."Statistics won't tell you much about me. I play for love, not records."

I don't think it was to Burnett's advantage that he drew Maguire, obviously because of the betting thing and also because he seems too relaxed, too happy playing his chum, instead of trying to beat his opponent. Being comfortable on your Crucible debut is obviously good, but this seems too comfy. Maguire, on the other hand, having more experience, obviously benefits from it. He's clinical, he wants to win so badly.
I agree, though, it's still early days to tell whether or not Maguire has a shot at the title. 2007 he started off poorly, built up and the semi against John Higgins was quite the match, but he had too much of a lead and perhaps got too certain he would win. I think he would have gone on to win the title, had he beaten Higgins, but the 'what if' game isn't really that entertaining. Last year he just peaked too soon, started out flying and ran out of petrol.
Ali Carter has also looked very good in the past two years, except, obviously, for in the final last year. He seems to get tired by the time he gets to the latter stages of the tournie, so having had a couple of days off before round 2 should do him good and up his chances.
I'm quite excited about this now, should drag myself away from the computer and get some everyday stuff done before the first session starts.Das war ein FLUKE! Ein Glückstreffer!
