Pants! so I watched the O'Sullivan Bingham match absolutely fine, good coverage and I set sky + to record snooker extra before I went to bed safe in the knowledge that when I woke up this morning I could watch the Williams Hendry match, but oh no BBC think people are more interested in Dott and Hawkins? Come off it. I wish they would show more snooker too, they try to cram it in to a few shows, why not make use of bbc three and four? I know I can press the red button but i'm not always home and you can't record coverage from the red button, anybody else think they should show more? It's not like they show anything else of interest on BBC 2 apart from snooker.

I cannot guarantee it, as I have not got a freeview recorder... But, if you are using freeview (Not Virgin/Sky) try browsing to channel 301 and 302 (Instead of the red button). I'd imagine you would be able to record on these - But as I say; I've never had the chance to try it.

Totally agree - so frustrating that you can't record from the red button! especially as they stopped the evening coverage at 8pm to show 'Dad's Army' for the millionth time!!!!!!!

Would be good if they would leave the camera on between sessions like they used to rather than this "30 years of Steve Davis" loop.

To be fair the BBC showed the Williams v Hendry session on the red button and not Dott's. Therefore giving people chance to watch both sessions.

did anyone else lose the Carter v Greene match last night with a loop that continually kept saying some about 3? It was really weird and I just turned off anyway but for those that were really interested in either player would have been disappointed.

Yes i did....found it annoying as happened right near the end of that frame.

In 2004 I remember watching Matthew Stevens vs Graeme Dott in the semi-final. It was 15-16 and near the end of the frame that Dott needed to win but the frame had not been decided. Without warning the coverage (this was the first year of full coverage on freeview) was cut off and I only got the result by looking for the scores on the BBC website. Did anyone else have the coverage cut off then?

That was agony. I had to wait for the 645pm highlights show to find out result.

True but the big match should be on mainstream tv not the red button, wrong way around in my opinion.

Dad's Army, S05E13, 'Time on my hands': An enemy pilot bails out and becomes tangled up with the town clock - and so do the members of Mainwaring's platoon when they attempt a rescue.

I think I understand what happened there: someone at the Beeb misread 'rescue' for 're-cue'. Can happen to the best of us.

There must be a way to record this 'red button' coverage - not that I have done it myself - but I know some are...

cant you just hook a freeview box up to a dvd recorder? What exactly is the proble with recording the red button?

Connect the digital box to any external source (Eg, computer or DVD recorder).

Despite this, I see no reason why you cannot record from the red button on *freeview* (Using channel 301 and 302). On freeview the "red button" simply forwards you to other channels. This is not the case with Sky/Virgin and also why you cannot rewind etc on this.

I'd giving the 301/302 a go... Maybe it wont work... I cannot try myself (don't have a freeview recorder) but I don't see the problem...
