Dottie needed to win to otherwise he would have dropped out of the top 32. Not many players come back from that.

Good track record here, and now he is into 3 sessions he has got to be beat and he is a handful for anyone.

fine by me to show his emotion - i am reliably told he is a nice guy and still turns up and plays pool for his local pub team.

It seemed more as if he actually wanted to punch someone - he looked angry and arrogant. I just wondered, are there people on this forum who actually like Dott? Did anyone else think that his reaction upon winning was disrepectful to his opponent and actually made you dislike him more? He won a few tournaments and has been in other finals. How many players can say they have been champion of the world?
He does not get the kind of appreciation that other winners have got and that is a shame but I think he does not need anyone's approval just his own.
He is a proven winner and a determined player and to come back after his personal problems and injury is quite something. I respect that so good luck to him.

Dott plays with his heart on his sleeve. He'd just won a game which many people thought he would lose and played some good stuff into the bargain. I actually like this kind of reaction from a player as opposed to just strolling over and shaking hands as if he's playing his mate in a club. I'm not a particular fan of wee Dott, but I'm glad to see him finding a bit of form again. As 1lawyer says, he never got the credit or respect he deserved for winning the world title and his achievement was almost forgotten as many people were too obsessed with trying to figure out how and why Ronnie had lost. So it's good to see him bouncing back.'I think the the 1972 World Championship was the coming of the saviour - myself'!! Alex Higgins 1972

I agree with both 1lawyer and Kingscratcher and I can't help wondering how many of these comments would be made if Dott was a 6ft big guy with a dark brown voice.
Not to mention there are constantly complains on forums about "lack of characters" and when we have players showing their emotions or speaking their mind they immediately get critics for being disrespectful or controversial.
