  • Postcard from Sheffield – Day 5

Well good morning on another splendidly sunny day in Snooker City!

Finally yesterday a seed went out – Joe Perry becoming the first and then Peter Ebdon the second. Nigel Bond beat Ebdon pretty late, but for the 10-5 scoreline it could have been a lot, lot later! One of few recent Crucible matches where the players' ages total over 80: As Terry Griffiths commented, these two have been playing since before the war, to which Clive Everton responded, "Which war?"

We come towards the end of the first round, with a lie-in in the morning. As well as the action on-table, it's been good to meet up with a few TSF members, namely crucible77, chrisdebag, jaguarf1, ferret of course, Kathrin, I could go on but in case I forgot just one person I'll leave it there knowing I've missed about half a dozen!

Anyway, as you can tell by the time this is written, I'm missing some snooker right now. Not through choice; I have to make an appointment with a car mechanic!

So while I await the RAC, I shall sign off and wish you all pleasant snooker viewing, wherever and however you are doing it!

    Wish you were here!
