Anyway one of the best days ever at The Crucible I guess.
they were two really interesting matches but for completely different reasons.
the higgins cope match was really high quality with lots of big breaks and the robbo carter match was filled with mistakes but exciting as most of the frames were really close and filled with pressure moments, definitely one of the most enjoyable sessions of snooker so far

    • Indeed two great matches. In the Higgins-Cope one missed safety shot meant the end of the frame and a big break from the opponent and in the other match...ah well....there were good breaks there too but most important the tension and drama was something else. Ali Carter was somehow fortunate the session ended because he looked like he lost concentation and composure because of all those stealed frames by Neil.
Looking forward to the last session of those matches

Moreover. he played some very silly shots. IMHO with a bit more thinking and taking time he could have denied Robertson some of those frames...

        • Maguire is losing it bigtime at the moment. Looks like Mark King's got a decent chance of winning the match from here, unless Maguire got it out of his system with those hit'n'hopes.

That having been said, Maguire gets the frame to go 5-5.

          • I think Mark King missed a trick there in the tenth frame, he had Maguire really rattled and had plenty of chance to take advantage, but failed to do so. Wouldn't surprise me if Maguire forged ahead now, although he's been little more than lukewarm as opposed to on fire so far.

Maguire isn't taking the chances he has had so far, and he is effectively playing Mark King's game, which, being very different to his own natural game, is why he might go from lukewarm to cold as a fish very soon.

I am of course hoping that I'm wrong!

                  • King can be a very tricky and tenacious opponent, but I think Maguire's class will show in the end. Long way to go yet though.

yes Maguire's class should show in the end when it matters...but as long as long as he can keep his composure in check when things aren't going his way Maguire should get through to the next round.

                      • Today Dott seems to be cueing well and in a right frame of mind to fight / showing good will power. Even a bit of a pitty his draw is to play against Selby

What did he (Dott) do yesterday to get to even 6-2 behind?

Yesterday Selby was the better player but frankly Dotty also had some awfull run of the balls as seems to be the case often when you struggle.

                          • anyone else think the players have been getting an aweful lot of kicks lately?

Ive seen alot of pots missed thick by a long way an judging by the players reaction they seem to think its because of a kick.

Yes there do seem to have been quite a lot so far, I wish they could find a way to stop them. D'you remember a few years ago when they had a bloke on who said he'd solved the problem, and it was down to how the cloths were made. They did some experimenting on his improved cloth and there were no kicks, at the time, they all thought it was marvelous, but we've heard nothing about it since though, shame.
