    And that's just THIS interview.
Monique has extreme prejustice when it comes to Ronnie O'Sullivan.
She uses one standard to just other players and another on Ronnie. I doubt she knows him personally but she takes up the position of the official spokeswomen for Ronnie and will defend him to death based on what she considers as facts.

    Just forget about it.

      Ronnie O'Sullivan comments

He played brilliant, and if he plays like that he's got a great chance to win the tournament. He's better than me.

I half expected it (to lose), I didn't expect to win my first round match. I'm not surprised, anyone would have beaten me playing on that type of form. I can't imagine that he'll be jumping around doing cartwheels because I was very poor. That's the way it goes.

I've not felt good all tournament. If I'd been 11-5 up I would have still felt quite negative because I wasn't producing or playing any good. I've been 16-8 up in the final but still felt I was going to lose, because my form can get that bad sometimes you (journalists) could have beaten me.

I'm playing badly in practice and in tournaments. Even if I had got through that one, that match wasn't the problem - it would have been the next one or the next one. Sometimes that's how it is.

I might watch a bit of it (the rest of the tournament) on TV. I'll go go home and see my kids and have some fun. I've got my dad coming home so I've got that to look forward to. I've got a lot of time now to spend with my dad, he's been a long time away, so I'm excited about that.

Well then it's how you read it. I don't think he refers to depression at all but rather to lack of motivation because he is really struggling with his game for most of the season and not enjoying to play this way at all.
In this same interview he also says, "I've a great live, I'm fit, I'm healthy, I'm strong, have two wonderfull kids ..." and further that he has "plenty of things to look forward to". That doesn't sound like depression to me.
It's easy to say "quit then". What else can he do? Like most players he started fairly young and it's the only thing he's ever prepared for to earn a living. Basically he is right now in the same situation as any person who isn't enjoying their work anymore and feels miserable about it and trapped at the same time because he/she has a family to support and a lifestyle to sustain.
The fact that he's famous and rich and his job highly visible doesn't change anything whatever you might think.

I propose we agree to disagree.

Yes and he also states that hes achieved everyting (wich is real) and he doesnt care if people are saying that hes struggling because he tried hard and given everything and for that reason he can walk with his head up.

Thats fine by me....he admits lack of form and he sais hes given all his best, nothing about depression .....

I take it you mean she's PREJUDICED when it comes to ROS. Well, I don't think she is. She is a mod on ROS' forum, she's met him & spoken to him a few times, wouldn't say chummy chummy with him but I'd say she knows him. And if you're a mod on a certain player's official website/forum, I do believe you'd know what it's like to defend that player or properly represent them.

I've read lots of posts where Monique was the first to admit the wrong-doings of ROS. This time, I believe she's right in defending him. He just lost a match, I wouldn't expect to see him jumping around in joy, now would you? He spoke his mind out like he ALWAYS does. He doesn't owe anyone anything, he doesn't need to prove anything, he loves the game but it's his job. I'm sure most of us love their jobs (or don't) but occassionally find it hard to keep the motivation going. He sometimes seems a lot more depressed in interviews following tournament wins so I second Monique's view that it has to do with his current mood at the time rather than having to do with winning/losing.

                          • In case you missed it, Mark King declared a foul on himself and subsequently lost the final frame of the session

King is holding his own and looks like he's cueing well enough to win the match. The expectation is more on his opponent, but i expect King will also feel the nerves the closer he gets to the finishing line

                            • I think the best thing to do for future tournaments is to issue answer cards, valid for two situation: win and loss, respectively. So the players will just read off them, change names, names of tournaments, scorelines and any other details and never step into controversial territory.
Exhibit A1, close win: "I'm delighed to have won, my adversary is a worthy opponent, he has put me under a lot of pressure, especially when getting close to the winning line and you know that last frame is always the hardest to win. I'm looking forward to the rest of the tournament and everybody in it has a chance to win it, they are all good players."
Exhibit A2, demolition win: "Yes, I'm pleased with the way I played, he could have made things a lot more difficult for me, my game was in decent form tonight but make no mistake, everybody left in the tournament is in it with a chance to win."
Exhibit B1, close loss: "Sometimes things go this way and it's winning the scrappy frames that matters. He handled pressure a bit better, fair play to him but everybody still in the tournament has a chance to win it."
Exhibit B2, heavy loss: "I wasn't very much there, couldn't get going and didn't put him under any pressure but not to take anything from him, he played great (it's common knowledge that players and commentators totally dislike the 'ly' ending that defines adverbs ) and he's still in the tournament so best of luck to him but make no mistake, everyone left in it has a good chance to win it."

And they should read off them in a monotonous, dry tone of voice and try to control their facial expressions as well as they can. This way, no one would ever complain about post-matches, in any way whatsoever.

Total taboos: WS, money, the state of the circuit, the state of tables, cushions and pockets, the tournament scheduling, references to personal life, any mention of matters off-table.
Recommended: WS is doing a great job, snooker is developing outside the UK, the 6-red idea is a wonderful one, I love it here, it's a great venue and a terrific atmosphere, we all get along like brothers in the circuit, we're one big happy family.
