      It's being repeated on BBC2 now!:snooker:
I watched the first 5 frames and had to go out - turned on 5 live in the car at 12.30 to hear them say that Stephen Hendry has just got a maximum!!! Mixed feelings that I missed it live but absolutely thrilled that Stpehen did it!!!!

Awesome break, the great man always plays well here, never saw this coming! Extremely happy for him and his loyal supporters (I consider myself one), I'll never forget this break! Well done great man, go win the thing!

i expected him to beat Williams and i expected him to beat ding but the manner he beat ding was inspiering so i half expected him to go up a level again and although he missed a routine red in the final frame for the first time in ages it didnt bother me he lost that frame because he is cuing beutifully and if he gets chances i expect him to take them...

but theres 2 players in this match and murphy also can take his chances....

its a 50/50 match with 38 minutes to go to sesion 2....

id be happy if hendry went in to the final session 9-7 down from here.

I'd not be happy but I'd not rule him out. I'd take 8-8 or better going into tomorrow. Got classic written all over it.

there are 4 stages in a legends career:

1.he makes a statement stating that he's arrived
2.he becomes the best among the lot.
3.he loses touch , goes down , everything is messed up.
4.he fights everything and reaches the top once again.

hendry is at stage 4 now, and he's here to win it at the crucible.
RIP NOEL, A TRUE TSF LEGEND.

i think thorburn made two in his career-the second in late 80s or so. He would have been over 40 then. Spencer made his famous one in 1979 when the tv men were on a break and the pockets weren't the right size. Spencer was mid 40s. However, hendry is the oldest in a ranking tournament and on tv. Brilliant from the maestro. It really is fab to see him play like this.

First time at a snooker tournament and then Hendry makes a maximum... so lucky

                      Hendry 147

A great 147 from the Master, Hendry. But I have one concern, the pockets look a bit generous to me. Some of those pots wouldn't go in at my club table. One of the reds he potted came off the pocket jaw by at least an 1 inch. The cut of the pockets seems very generous this Worlds. What do you all think?

Indeed, they are generous. Murphy also for his long pots got some help from them.
It must the explanation of the large amount of big breaks till now.
I saw that going differently in my mind

its been going that way throughout this millenium with experamenting with thinner cloths.....

but hendry has made 147s on all sorts of tables and conditions since his first in 1992 on a thicker cloths and a BCE table to today on a Riley and thinner cloths.

17 years between his first and his latest............judd trump was 2 when he started on making maximums lol

Stephen Hendrys 8th maximum was in 2001 8 years between them and amazingly it was done a year to the date Ronnie made his 9th 28th of April 2008 http://www.cajt.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Max.html

Got to say that it one of the best ive seen, saw it live on tv to. That plant halfway through the break pushing a 3 baller in then still powering though to stay on the black was amazin, well done Hendry.
