Well why not. Hard to belive now, but I really would like to be proven wrong.

A Davis or Hendry is a bit much, but a O'Sullivan/Higgins/Williams is probably more accurate. He's won the WC and UK already and is only 26. A Century and centuries, a rock solid technique, good temprament - simply a quality player.

Easily the best player under the age of 30 now.

BTW, where does Murphy rank after this, win or loss? Surely he passes Stephen 'Dire' Maguire.

Shaun Murphy has done well to win this frame, and is one behind at 3-2.

Hendry/Davis have a hell of a lot of character to me in their own way. A player doesn't have to be controversial to be a character in my book.

Roy, I know you are a big Murphy fan and if I'm not mistaken know him personally but can't you accept that people might not like him and that this may not be based on the stuff in the newspapers, without having a dig and saying that it is baffling or what you feel sorry for us or something?

Yes he's a great player but that doesn't mean that we have to support him or even enjoy watching him. Also the fact that we don't know him personally doesn't mean that we can't have an opinion on him based on what we have seen and read.

Don't mean that to come across as hostile, you just come across as being so defensive about him sometimes

Important for Murphy to win some of the scrappy frames like that because usually I would expect Higgins to win more than his fair share of those.

Well I won't argue with how his A game is, its very very good and yes he may win titles with it I'm sure, his B game though I'm not sure if it can stand upto other players, as when he plays a bad match he really has a bad match.

hey Matt mate. No i make you right although I dont dislike any one player based on his snooker play alone (Even Dotty despite what you may think) so it does baffle me as to how, if you dismiss what you read in the papers, you can dislike a player simply from what you see when you watch him play? Having said that I respect everyones different. the main reason im ultra defensive of him as you say is because his a dear friend of mine and the level of personal attacks/personal hatred towards him that them conspires in comments on here in full support of his oponents is unfair and quite frankly childish. Yet again I acknowledge that some people get something out of this so good luck to them.

Well that does explain alot Roy I had that feeling. I do respect him as a player and do enjoy him playing well, so please don't take everything I say to heart. I'm not out to get Shawn Murphy believe me.

Its quite ok Brettski I dont judge people thats only for the big man upstairs to do. And for the record the same goes for eveyone else. If ever you want to ask something personal regarding Shaun you can always PM me. I also know the personal attacks will never stop thats life but i hope he will silence his critics with his achievements on a snooker table.
