After shots like that i do tend to think AlexPaul is right when talking all the time about Murphys run of the balls....it happened earlier on the frame too, when he almost missed the pack, but a red went near the middle pocket.....ahhh well all square now....3-3

@rocketroy: Ok, so you're a friend of his, good, I'm glad his friends do support him, it's what friends are for.
However, those who do not know Shaun Murphy can only get an impression of him based on his performances, how he behaves during matches and what he chooses to show of himself through the media. I'm sure we're all grown-up enough to realise the tabloid article is probably filled with inaccuracies, as they are prone to be. Very few people are disputing his skills around the snooker table. He is a very very good player.
The chalk incident, the extension incident, some rather unfortunate comments... it all adds up.
Personally I don't like him based on having met him and spent some time around him. Like you I'm not going to go into detail, it's a personal opinion. I would also rather not ever see any more Murphy-bashing on here.
Aaaand with that having been said, Shaun draws level.
Come on, John! Get in there and go for that third title! :snooker:Last edited by Maija; 3 May 2009, 03:48 PM.Das war ein FLUKE! Ein Glückstreffer!

I agree although I suppose that my level of frustration isnt helped by the fact that i dont judge players/people at all especially if I DONT know them. Ill leave it at that. Great final lets hope it continues and the better player wins.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Having said that I respect everyones different. the main reason im ultra defensive of him as you say is because his a dear friend of mine and the level of personal attacks/personal hatred towards him that them conspires in comments on here in full support of his oponents is unfair and quite frankly childish. Yet again I acknowledge that some people get something out of this so good luck to them.
That said, I have met him a few times at the Crucible before and have always found him to be very pleasant and very accommodating with the fans, so from that point of view I'd not criticise him. I certainly don't hate him...I just don't like him very much either.
Taking a wider view though I just think it's natural in sport to have players/personalities that you like/dislike. I certainly have them in every sport that I watch and ultimately I find sport more exciting because of it. At the end of the day fans who don't know the players personally can only judge based on what they say and hear.
I'm sure that I am not the only one to think like that and within reason I don't see a problem with say people fully supporting Higgins because they prefer him to Higgins, it's just natural. I'm not THAT bothered in this case (though I would prefer John to win), but there are certainly a few players who I would much rather not win if it could be helped!
It might be a great final on paper and I totally agree that it's the 'right' final based on performances this week, but it's fair that it might not be the ideal final for those who have seen their favourite player bow out. My ideal final for every event would be Hendry/Doherty because they are my favourite two players ever to have picked up a cue.sigpic

I'm not a fan of Shaun (no, this isn't due to tabloid trash talk, I've never actually read anything about him that way), but I don't like to see any player 'bashed', that's not what this forum is for..
Lets just enjoy a great final on this lovely sunny day!
