    • Well I was going to sit down and watch the whole of this final over the next 2 nights but some ******* phoned me and told me the result.

I hate it when people do that, especially when I've gone out of my way to avoid the result so I can sit down and enjoy watching it later.

Roll on August for the next televised tournament (is it that far away?).

Tell me about it. It's even worse when the person who spilled the beans happens to be a former national champion and former #1.

Don't worry...I'll watch it anyway. Neither Murphy nor Higgins are my favourite players but there's alot to be learned from watching these guys play (especially Higgins at the moment).

I think I'll go back and download the Higgins v Cope match. I never got a chance to watch much of that.

          • Well done, Higgins!
I rooted for him after Ronnie's exit and I'm positive that's why he's won.
Wonderful to see generation '75 still ruling snooker. Hope for similar things in the future, too.
            Again, very well done.

Thank you, Hendry, for the lovely maxi!
Roll on next season. New balls, please!

                But this means it's over!

                • So it seems Ronnie was right when he said only he and Higgins have a chance to win it if they caqn operform at their best.....Alot of people jumped and said Ronnie was talking rubbish, but was not the case in this matter.
Anyway a worthy champion...he defeated the rising snooker stars (Cope, Allen) and the ones who were considered the leaders of the new generation(Selby, Murphy).
A magnificent all round performance sustained also by the pot succes he had in the whole tournament - 92 %....great.

PS Also Murphy deserves congratulation by playing very, very good snooker, until he met John.
"There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White

                  • I'm ashamed to say I didn't watch any of the final >.<
Glad Higgins won though, and along with everyone else I do feel this huge emptiness inside that snooker season is over! Better get down to the club and start playing to get my snooker fix.

                    • Following Shaun Murphy's defeat in the world final this now means that Ronnie O'Sullivan is the only world champion since 1969 who has not lost in a world final, 1969 being when the knock out format resumed after snooker spent years in the doldrums.

                        • I can only say how happy I am for John Higgins to win his third title. I like to watch him play. he's a great player with a good tactic game and still ofensive. that's interesting to watch. and I think, as far as I know, he's a great guy as well!

It is so, Mr RocketRoy man.
And as you say, quite an interesting fact.
It just shows that mugs don't win the world title because even the one time winners have been in at least one other final.

                            • Yes the majority of one time winners have won it deservedly so indeed.
