jamie burnett gets 630 points but im not sure about the first round i got to be honest because that was their first match

but on the tariff it says 910 and seeded loser 455 but everyone came in at that round and amateurs don't get points.

I'll explain this first round anomaly again in case people haven't seen it before

The losers in round one get 455.

The figure 910 only ever comes into use if a player won their round one match, but then, for some reason, couldn't play in their round two match - say illness, accident etc.

In that case the player doesn't get the loser points for round two they get the figure 910 (or whatever it is for other events)

I hope that's a bit clearer.

some news on the ranking points:

german eurosport voice rolf kalb posted this on http://de.eurosport.yahoo.com/snooke.../article/3177/ (in german). the essence is:
all players which did not compete on main tour 2008-9 receive 5850 starter points for that season, 731/732 each tournament. same thing will happen next year: eacg tournament of the last season 2009-10 has the starter point value 840. world championship the same as shanghai masters.

Interesting, at first glance that seems to be sensible, will be interesting to see how it works in practice.

Interesting, at first glance that seems to be sensible, will be interesting to see how it works in practice.

At the end of last season, the best 64 on 2008-2010 total points are qualified.
Then the best 8 on 2009-2010 total points are qualified too.

I think that newcomers get the same points as the last remaining.
Last season, it was Ben Woollaston with 5040 points.
(910,280,1440,200,910,1300)
The season before, it was Atthasit Mahitthi with 5850 points.
(900,1125,975,200,200,900,1150,400)

Am I right ?

you are basically right, newcomers received 5850+5040 starter points because that was the amount of mahitthi and woollaston respectivly, but their distribution is not (900,1125,975,200,200,900,1150,400,910,280,1440,20 0,910,1300) but
(731,731,731,731,732,731,731,732,840,840,840,840,8 40,840). even though your idea was fairer.

EDIT: I gave 732 points to the UK 2008 and World 2009, like Rolf Kalb suggested

it just seems absolutely bonkers having 2 Glaswegians Mcmanus and McGill Playing a Glasgow Tournament in bloody Sheffield while they take Murphy vs Harold to Glasgow..

anyone else thinks the person to make that decision should head off straight to the nutty farm ?

I can see where they are coming from, on paper it's good for the organisers to have a recent World/UK Champion guaranteed a place at the venue rather than a match between someone who has done little for a decade and a guy that few outside of here will have heard of.

Personally though I agree with you, I would much rather see the McManus/McGill tie for all sorts of reasons.
