I know it has been held before, but with just 7 players to choose from and fixed 6-frame-matches that would have been quite a gamble, don't you think so? I think I like fantasy games for full regular tournaments much better.

Well, let me add some personal fact to theasaris' work.
If I'm not making a mistake, 11 participants lost one of their players in day one.
Only Mignon lost two players.
