    @montoya
    Yeah, I'm not complaining about the quality of play, just the atmosphere at the venue...

    Dott does indeed only get 805 points. Where two seeds have been drawn to face each other at the L64, there are 1960-805=1155 at stake for both!

      Yeah, I thought I heard him say that.

      I remember once Willie Thorne mentioning that they arrive an hour early to make sure they knew all the facts and stats, but that didn't stop him from not even realizing that Thepchaiya was on the Main Tour last year. At one point, he said something like, 'This is a good chance to win his first match against a pro', how do you overlook something like that?

      They also should have learnt how to pronounce his name, they both had at least three different attempts each, one of them sounding like 'Tepp-a-chee yung-nun'.

      They also said something about him being 'China's answer to Ronnie O'Sullivan'

        The only thing I like about this format is you get to watch EVERY player/match. I'm often quite annoyed that I have to miss some of my favourite players in action when they're in a non TV table.

        And so far Eurosport player has been broadcasting everything.

          But under the Group stage I suggested every match carries weight as each player needs to win 2 matches to qualify for the ko rounds - once you lose two games then its over. Its all about the matches rather than focusing on group standings and points. It brings the focus on each match and each match will have the players involved with something to play for. Match 3 determines who wins the Group - match 5 determines who qualifies with the Group winner. Theres no group tables or dead matches under the format.

            If they win and move into Last 32 then they move onto 1960 points.

            However, if a player has won a match to reach the Last 64 stage then they're already on 1610 points, should they then lost the Last 64 match - eg Igor, Gunnell, Haneveer etc. They'd all won a Last 128 round match to reach Last 64

            Hope that explains it. It's never easy explaining the ranking system!!
            thanks Janie

            quite harsh then !
            Dott was unlucky with the draw and there are lots of points involved here.
