  • Oh my god! Did he seriously think about not potting the final black and boycott the high break prize?!

Luckily he did and I got to see my first ever live 147.

    • Jan Verhaas at Twitter:
Ronnie made a max. I asked him to pot the last black for his fans. Hope youre happy!

And Ronnie in interview after the match:
“Well i wasnt going to pot the black, no prize for the 147, but Jan talked me into it, whats the point of getting a 147 if you dont get a prize for it. I thought Barry was going to put more money in not be stingy and take it out”

      • I doubt you could write that script. That was amazingly surreal.

            • Ronnie conceded at 140, therefore it should not be counted as a 147.

              • That handshake with Mark King was just for show really. Of course he was going to pot the last black - it edges him ahead of Hendry for 147s.

Are you serious? Though I'm sure it wouldn't make the slightest difference to him whether it's counted or not, he was obviously making a point! This is one of the biggest tournament on the calendar (at least in terms of prize money) and it's ridiculous there isn't a bonus for a maximum break!!!

Don't let your obvious dislike for Ronnie prevent you from enjoying good snooker:snooker:

PS: montoya10, I hope you managed to see your first live 147

here's another quote from jan verhass' twitter:

"Just to clear the air, the ref's in charge and decides when a match is finished. The 147 stands."

                          • quote from commentator willie thorne "whenever a player can get his hand on the table he is not entitled to refuse a pot"........willie thorne on alan mcmanus who just tuned down a long red.
What the hell is he going on about, one is entitled to play the game in any manner they see fit........the bloke really does my head in ,how he has a nailed on job with the bbc is beyond me .
And besides Mcmanus turning down that red played safe and is now in the balls dishing up for the match...
                            Get Thorne out!

                            • I wonder how much Verhaas had bet on Ronnie making a 147 today. I'd like to see him forcing the players to pot the last black when they are already past the winning line from now on.

It's disgraceful and it should be investigated.

                                What?

Jaan wanted Ronnie to pot the black for the fans, after all, he had got that far, the least he could do was pot the final black!
