I think maybe Stephen's problem is his bridge hand.
It's not as strong as it used to be.

Nice to her him doing commentary...:snooker:

Regarding Stephen Hendry's cue this season. He is using a John Parris Ultimate 3/4 cue with maple shaft (same cue as last season when he switched from the Acuerate cue he had previously used).

I can also tell you the butt decoration as I had John Parris make me an identical butt to Hendry's for my "Special" Parris cue last November. Its a single-facing splice of Amboiner Burr wood with a green veneer on top. He then has four secondary splicings of ebony each with green veneers (these four green veneers wrap around the butt of the cue). Very classy in my opinion.

Not sure if it is just me, but ironically I think this format is suiting Hendry, as it's been a while since he recorded back-to-back wins in a ranking event. It wouldn't surprise me if he raises his game and puts in a strong performance against O'Sullivan/White also.

And finally his commentary; very much enjoyed how he came across and his insight (much prefer Hendry to Doherty/Parrott). I play in premier division league matches Monday/Thursday and fairly regularly make centuries in practice, occasionally in matches (high break 127 total clearance) and his comment about how he loathes using the cushion when in the balls I found particularly useful. It is honestly something I never think about when on a break and consequently is probably a reason why many breaks end in the 50s as opposed to single visit frame clinchers (ie bad bounce of a cushion or a kick leaving cue ball glued to a cushion leaving more difficult pots).

Yep its very intense on some of the players that a best of 5 is likely to decide their ranking, seems very drastic! Has anyone else noticed Hendry looking at the pocket on some shots as well (about same time as when he is feathering - just glancing up!).

Hendry has always flicked his eyes to the pocket...:snooker:

He had a very good draw the previous round....You cant win a title playing only with the likes of Haneveer of Mark Davis, an ill Mark Davis by the way.

Mark Davis has scored nearly 10.000 points this season.
I'm not sure it's the best draw.

It was a great draw. Mark Davis was ill and almost retired before the game.

But we will see Hendrys form when he meets Ronnie. Lucky for him it is a best to 3 match....

It's a test for both. Hendry is starting to gain some confidence having won his first 2 matches without conceding a frame and Ronnie hasn't played the best of snooker (maximum break aside) in this tournament. He's been missing too many relatively simple shots when he's amongst the balls.

It will be interesting to see who is gonna raise their game enough to clinch the match!:snooker:

But Ronnie is in the better form... I think that he will be very focused because he has great respect for Stephen, and Hendry will certainly want to beat Ronnie after some time.,so I think that this will be the match of the tournament so far...

When was the last time that Stephen won against Ronnie?

As far as I remember, it was the 2006 UK Championship 9-1 (the famous walkout when 4-1 down).

There was also the 2007 PL but that's a non-ranker, Hendry won 4-2 in the round-robin stage.

So basically 4 years without a win,and I bet that he still remembers 2008 and WC semi-final..

I don't think the 2008 WC semi-final will have a bearing in this match. After all, Hendry started that match very strong & led 4-1 before Ronnie won the next 12 frames!

It's all about who will get out faster from their starting blocks & apply pressure on their opponent:snooker:
