  • World Open – Last 16 discussion

The Last 16 of the tournament gets underway tomorrow (Thursday 23) and the draw has just been made, so this seems a good time to start the discussion thread for the round.

Remember the start of this round is third match of the afternoon session - so exact time remains to be seen!

Really enjoting this tournament so far, what does everyone else think. SimplySnooker's question of the Round: What were your original thoughts of the tournament before it started, and have they changed, and if yes why?

At first I was sort of puzzled to the outcome of this tournament. Since it's the first of the season, we don't really know who's in a good form and who isn't. I'm enjoying it so far and I still have no idea who may win it in the end.

What do you mean it's the first of the season...?

There have been several tournaments this season already, including a televised ranking event in Shanghai the week before last.

I know ... I just realised that yesterday. I thought this was the first Ranking event of the season as I didn't even watch the Shanghai Masters.

Looking forward to the Williams v Hawkins match. Both have been in good form in this tournament. I expect pretty aggressive game this evening.

Ding Junhui is the first player through to the Quarter Finals after a commanding 3-0 win over Marcus Campbell. Tonight's two Last 16 games, beginning at 7PM are Mark Williams against Barry Hawkins and Peter Ebdon against Lui Song.

This match should be really good! I hope Bazza can keep up his good quality snooker against such a great opponent :snooker:

Impressive start from Williams. Going to take some beating if he continues the standard he has produced so far..

Near 'Not belongs to the earth' frame by Williams.
I wonder how will Hawkins respond to that?
                      All the way Mark J!!

That didn't look like a foul... I'm assuming she thought he fouled the brown with his shirt sleeve!!!

That last frame was ridiculous! Near 'Not belongs to the earth' sums it up just right montoya

Looks like Bazza hasn't been too overwhelmed though, this is just what I like to see! :snooker:
