  • Yes, this Brecel kid is a huge talent, I'm fully convinced about that now. Should make it as a pro easily, but it will be hard after that. Beating Doherty in a best of nine is a great achievement, despite the 10 reds format and Ken's lack of form.

    • Amazing to see this kid fearlessly playing a draw against a worldclass pro like Dott, during the business end of a tournament.

But why oh why has the Eurosport Player coverage broke down on me in this deciding frame??

well, at least you got to see some live snooker today. Eurosport on tvants & sopcast showed absolutely zilch snooker, so far...

        • Yeah great display from the boy, he doesn't seem to be impressed at all by the Legends he's played against (and beaten, heh), but as someone else said earlier, I hope that he won't get, hmm.... too much "big-headed" or something, and will keep his feet on the ground.

EDIT: Dott has just beaten Luca, 5-4, and made the second century of the event, I think.

There was an article in the Belgian newspeper this morning about him.

            • I wanted to watch the Dott v Brecel Match but I absolutely refuse to pay Eurosport any money whatsoever. Their coverage is truly appalling, especially at the weekend.
By all accounts it was quite a good game, according to the Live Scoring with the youngster pinching the first by a point and taking the second too, so no nerves from him. Graeme came back to lead 3-2 only to promptly go 4-3 as the boy refused to buckle. A break of exactly 100 put Graeme level and he looks to have controlled the decider to squeeze through.

I also refused to pay as well, as I heard many people have had bad experiences with the crappy player.

Yes, I said it earlier he looks and plays very much like Ronnie when he first hit our screens. He even played a left handed shot yesterday so I think its fair to say he has modelled himself on O'Sullivan.

Obviously will need to work on his all round game but from the little I've seen its just a matter of time before he's in the top 16 and getting close to titles, I honestly think he's gonna be a superstar and its great to see someone from a small country like Belgium making waves in the game. For all that Haneveer has done he's nowhere near this lads class even with his experience, I'd bet Brecel is already better than he is now.

                    • Lol, Steve looks to be going 3-0 up

(I'm not sure how much sleep John's had since his WC victory!)

EDIT: Steve was 70 odd in front in frame 3 but it says 2-1 on the score board?!

                          • Thanks for the link, since Eurosport France decided to show some *sigh*soccer*sigh* instead, one hour ago.

Anyway, Maguire won 4 frames in a row and beat Ding 5-2.

So we have Dott vs Murphy tomorrow in the 1st SF, then Higgins vs Maguire.

And back to 15 reds! \o/
