Great match! Maguire got going in the second half, but he'd left himself too much to do. It will be interesting to see how well Hawkins can play in the next round. The draw is not too difficult, either Stevens or Allen, both beatable in my opinion.

Great point, watching the highlights now, I always like to hear what the pundits say about the matches and the interviews!!
Very disappointing performance from Steve Maguire...I was expecting way better from him but the first session killed him. He went back strongly in the second, equalizing at 8 all but it was not enough...
Congrats to Barry on the other hand. He managed to knock on a crucial break in the decider and a well earned victory!

I almost feel sorry for Dale. The fact that he's played well against Ronnie has only served to spur Ronnie on to try harder. If you are going to play well against Ronnie it seems you need to completely blitz him.
"You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.
Want Stevens to do well today and you'd feel Allen is vulnerable. If he manages to win he's got a free pass to the quarter-finals in what could be the repeat of the 2000 final.
I guess Walden and McLeod canĀ“t play all 9 frames in this session. Not totally unexpected. Two players that in my opinion would do better if they speeded up a little.
....its not called potting its called snooker. Quote: WildJONESEYE

If u've ever seen phil taylor play darts (im a big fan of his) he's the same, just more consistent, it's SO tough for an opponent of a playing well Ronnie or Taylor knowing that anything they do may not be enough, must be very hard to bear!!
(there are days when phil taylor is truly unstoppable during the last 3 years!!)
