  • Worst Player to Qualifier For The Cruciable World Snooker Championships

Clive everton mentioned in commentary this morning on the Jamie Cope V Andrew Pagett match, that Mark Williams texted Andrew Pagett when he qualified for the Cruciable that he was the worst player to qualify (Only Joking he was of course), Clive said Andrew Pagett is not the worst player to qualify for sheffiled and and said i won't embarasse anybody by saying who is just in case they are watching : I wonder which player he meant and also if the player only made one or serveral appearances in the world championships.

also who do think is the worse player to qualify for The world snooker championships

Seems a funny thing for Clive to say!!!

I would love to be the worst player to ever qualify for the world championship!!!!!

Lets face it, to qualify means you are better than most!
    Highest Break
    Practice: 136 (2005)
    Match: 134 (2006)
    In 2011: 94
    Centuries made: 50+

I think it was a bit stupid on clive's part to say such a thing.
BBC commentators are stubborn and they are a bit harsh on new players.
These qualifiers have not come out of a lucky draw, they have won several matches to qualify.
questioning there talent would be like doubting the qualification process.

I think you are right about that. Lieu Chuang was 65 th when he qualified in 2008. I can´t remember anyone lower ranked.

I would say Surinder Gill. Played in one world championship (1994) and got hammered by Hendry 10-1.

in 1997 Bradley Jones was Ranked 199 when John Parrott beat him on the pink and Marco Fu was ranked 377 in the world when he lost to james wattana in 1999 and also ronnie O' sullivan was ranked 415th in the world when he made his debut in 1993 against alan McManus, But i think the only person to appearer only oncein the world championships who is the lowest ranked qualifir was Stephen O' Connor who get beat by John Parrott by 10 frames to 1 in 1993

I'd say of those, Stephen O'Connor and Bradley Jones (relatively speaking of course), the others have gone on to make names for themselves!!

Spencer Dunn had to play 11 rounds to qualify in 1993, so presumably was ranked pretty low...

i dont think pagett's the worst, but his match with cope was a shocking standard, both players must be gutted with the way they played, and there wouldnt have been many worst matches than that over the years i dont think.

Jimmy Robertson was poor against Mark.

This question is like the 'crucible curse'. Terrible curse, as for it to be relevant you have to have already won the World title. To have got to the last 32 in the World Championships, by most people's standards you're a great player. Jimmy Robertson, who I agree did play poor against Mark Selby, had his first 147 against me, at the grand old age of 14! S**t player! Steve Davis lost 10-1 one year - C**p player! Stephen Hendry lost 9-0 to Marcus Campbell, admittedly not in the World Championships but still - he's f*****g rubbish!
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.
