  • Hendry's cue action has slowed again.

Maybe it's me, but he seemed to speed up his action a few weeks back and hardly have a pause ( like when he was in his hey day ).

Now [watching vs Perry] it seems he's gone slow again and that deliberate pause has returned. Not *quite* as long as before, but significantly slower than when he speed up recently.

Jeez, if he's having problems working on his technique, what chance do us lesser mortals have?

Well, he didn't seem to have many problems today. Loads of 50+ breaks and a couple of centuries.

People think Hendry's lost it, but the standard he plays at today is still better than what most players ever achieve. In among the balls, he's still Top-5.

His cue action is very unnatractive at the minute. You can see it moving sideways on both the delivery and the backswing on most shots requiring power. I suppose it's testimant to his talent that he's still the player he is and is able to compete at the top, but his cue action in the old days was far better.

If he has changed again (i didnt see him today) it just shows that he is not confident in what he is doing. Think he will always score in the balls cos that is usually last thing to go but I have seen him recently when anything over 6 feet and he seems he is cueing across. Only thing is that consistancy is important in snooker and perhaps he would be better just sticking to a technique whatever. Hope he has a good championship.

He always seems to miss the medium to long range pink off the spot nowadays.

That's true. When he was making those centuries today his cue action was smooth and beautiful and he looked like he couldn't miss. He was supremely confident. Other times he looked a bit dodgy and his action failed.

It's all about confidence with Hendry these days. It comes and goes throughout his matches. Back in the day he was confident all the time.

Tell you what though, if those long pots start going in he could be a real danger to Selby in the next round (assuming they get through)

I didn't pay too much attention to his cue action but for sure, he's moving a lot more than usual.

His quote was he was going to play in 'all' the tournaments and I assume he understands the value of the PTCs not only for the ranking points but also to keep tournament sharp between the majors.

Also, from what I've seen the comments here are quite accurate (although I didn't manage to see a lot of him). He is cueing across the cueball from right to left and seems to be putting unintentional left-hand side on the cueball and thus missing those 6ft and over shots to the left almost every time that I saw.

I believe I know what he's doing and what's causing that problem but I would have to see a good video of him showing his grip hand and right elbow/shoulder before I can be certain. Maybe someone who knows him can ask him to make a video of himself playing long blues with the camera directly behind his cue and I will offer him a free assessment if I can get a copy of the video.
