Hope it's half as good as Selby Hendry first session, I'll be very happy if it is!! After all, pro snooker is about paying money to see the best safety, potting and breakbuilding, well above the norm that u'd see, that's the whole point of professional sport, let's hope it continues tomorrow!!!

      • Absolutely incredible match. Gotta feel for Barry he played so well to claw back to a decider and to ruin it all by a poor break-off was painful. Shame about the maximum aswell, but that was just amazing!

            • It's a real shame watching Hendry like this. Trying to remember how good he was, and how much I disliked him when he routinely beat Jimmy (and everyone else) in the 90's. Don't really understand why he's lost it. Both Steve Davis and Jimmy White think he's the greatest player there's been; is it just he's lost confidence and lost concentration, or has the standard come on? I can't believe the latter, cos in the 90's Hendry didn't miss a shot!

Am going to see Selby Hendry tomorrow. Really hope its a good game!

If u've never been to crucible I'm sure u'll love it, the commentary headsets are well worth it I reckon, hope it's half as good as it was tonight for u!!

                • It's simply the circle of life - all good things come to an end. Stephen is still a legend and the best ever but it looks like he's done as he won't be able to put up with being pumped like that, top 16 or not.

                  • I went to the Crucible for the first time to see Higgins Vs Lee and thou it was a back row seat was blown away by the atmosphere and everything about it! That night I immediately tried and managed to get a tix for the Hendry game, and was v lucky as there must have been re-sales cos I got one only a few rows back rrom the table, row J

It's weird, the more I don't recognised some of the younger / newer players coming through (I've been living away from England the last few yrs) the more I want 'my generation' of players to do well! I never liked Hendry before, but he's been my favourite since PH passed away and Jimmy stopped qualifying for the major events.

                    • Like last year its end of the road for Hendry. Selby is way too strong for him. He was lucky enough to beat Perry and profit from other results and stay in top 16, until the first cut at least.
"There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White

                      • I’ve seen Selby play like this before against john Higgins, Higgins soaked it up and then when given the opportunity clawed his way back in and then went on to win. Hendry has had chances and failed to take them, so Selby is playing without fear. I can't see this match turning around.

Because Stephen was SO good in his day I've always appreciated his play, his agression, and his self belief was massive, totally changed the game, almost singlehandedly responsible for the attacking shot to nothing style we see today, I loved PH, never got the chance to meet him unfortunately, saw him play in the classic semi in 2003 when he led Doherty 15-9, I never imagined he wouldnt win a world title, I could have cried for him that day!! I loved Jimmy too, as we all did, Hendry was my fave though, always will be, my fave of the new players is Mark Allen, and John Higgins of the older guard, along with the once in a lifetime Steve Davis!! Enjoy urself, I went twice last year, saw Ding and Carter Murphy, 13-12 and Ding got a century in his match!

Hendry of old maybe but hendry of now is not higgins obviously in standard, it's finished as a who's gonna win contest for me, just hope hendry can get 5 or 6 frames at least! I saw Selby get 3 centuries in a row vs higgins at crucible, but hendry got one too, there was a genuine max chance, an 80 and a century from hawkins, snooker for the gods tonight!! Cant remember seeing a session with SO many high breaks!!

I know what you mean, I used to moan about Hendry winning everything, but when he started loosing his invulnerability, I gradually started rooting for him. I think it might be an age-empathy thing.

It's amazing when you think about it, he dominated the game when it was at it's peak, financially speaking, and took the lion's share of the winnings. Lucky sod!
He deserves every penny though, he's a true legend.

                              • Fact is Hendry has less chance of causing upsets as he gets older than Steve Davis has even at over 50 because Hendry is still playing like he has a long game when he now has none and is still taking on ridiculously risky pots. Taking on that swerve shot on the red when Selby just missed was suicidal ! Hendry will never adapt to being a grinder and so will plummet down the ranking quickly

Getting back to the TOurnament. If Ding, Higgins and Ronnie all win, we will have the best latter stages for a long time.
