John Higgins said something that i consider very important in his post match interview....the difference between him (Hendry) and Steve Davis is that Steve loves snooker and Stephen loves winning."There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White

He shouldn't retire, IMO. He's still easily Top 16 quality when he plays well.

Would be a shame for hendry to retire...
If he does manage to stay in the 16 he needs to be turning upto the PTC's and entering most events for next season, otherwise if he does manage to stay in the top 16 it surely won't be for long if he just won't enter all/most of the tourney's available to him, he'll just drop back out in no time, unless he wins a major or two early on in the season which i just can't see. i'm sure he knew the score on rankings last year and knew he was slipping because of the change in rankings over the months, of course he did and still he never entered more PTC's etc...
So he has been relying on finding a bit of form too carry him and keep him there that just tells me that he as had thoughts of ending it for at least a season already or he would have entered more events over the season if he wasnt thinking like that. Just riding on luck to stay in the top 16 now eh.....
Only way forward i can see if he does stay in the 16 is too enter all tourney's next season and try too find some match sharpness, that's the only way forward if hendry is going to stay in for the forseeable future. If not, and he don't/not willing to enter most tourney's next season theres no point and he may aswell retire Now IMO...
But like i said he knew this was a possibility this season and still never entered lot's of tourney's, surely it would have been a bit easier to work hard this season and enter the tourney's than it could or probably will be next season.
I think alot depends on the result of bingham/ding tonight, then hendry got lot's too think about and mull over after ding/bingham match... that's when he will be really deciding what he wants to do.
He'll be on pins waiting for this result tonight i bet eh...
Qualifying or Not that is the question?????????....
And now this decision seems a bit of a silly decision he has to make, when he could have done alot more than he has about being in this predicament in the first place. just seems a bit strange really, he knew but then he never done nowt about it really, maybe he is retiring and been planning to do so for a while, Just waiting till his top 16 run come to an end?.... i dunno just seems a bit of a hard way about going about it if he don't retire and drops out now i think, find it quite a strange way to go about it really..who knows whatt he's thinking, we'll soon see eh...
C'mon ding.....Last edited by cally; 25 April 2011, 06:01 PM.
