Getting back to the TOurnament. If Ding, Higgins and Ronnie all win, we will have the best latter stages for a long time.
When SH lost position and found a lucky plant. he should have screwed up the table for the blue or baulk colour, he would have then had an oppertuinty to split the back from the blue or baulk colour.
The red that he missed at the back of the pack was a bread and butter shot for a pro and not only did he miss it he played it without any conviction as he got no top spin on the white.
His long balls where a joke and the one he did get he cannon the red on the back cush, which also shows a lack of confidence as all his concentration is on the pot and not on postion as it should be. If hendry whats to compete now he needs to revamp his game top to bottom instead of dwelling on past glories. I still think he has a game but the not the one he used have and worst of all no one fears him.

I've always feared his bottom lip and just how big and fat and droopy it gets when things aren't going his way.
      One day I'll make a century, I've knocked in a 51!

      • Some interesting criticisms of stephen's game been made here. The fact is he's well past his glorious best as we all know & i think he knows it now too. Maybe he should be applauded for remaining in the top 16 for so long when all the other players from the late 80's, early 90's have long since departed. He showed the rest that attacking snooker & taking risks could bring success & his single mindedness & dedication has never been bettered.
If this is his last match (i believe it will be) i hope he can at least make a fight of it, if not he's got nothing to prove & can retire proud of his achievements.

A word for Mark Selby too who played superb snooker last night. It will be interesting to see if he can keep this going & go on to win the tournament. He's played tremendous stuff in a few matches recently against Hendry i remember but has ran out of steam in the latter stages. One ranking title is not enough for a player of his class & if he keeps last night's form going i fancy him to make the final at least this time.

        • Yeah interesting points by the above posters about SH.
The question I have is why should somebody lose their potting ability as they get older? Do people really shake or become less steady or whatever when they get to mid/late 30s? Is their a particular reason why people should get worse? Marathon runners peak in their 30's and golfers also.

          • Nice line from Terry there "I don't know what John Higgins had for breakfast, but the rest of the player's will be avoiding it for the rest of the week" .....lol
Another terrible slow game, but Rory 2-0 up !!!

Very unfair. Rory McLeod has played superb tactical snooker and took his chances so far. He has done well to keep Higgins frozen out.

                    • Bingham missed an incredible chance there to steal the frame after needing 2 snookers...might be a turning point

                      • Once again, Mark Selby played great against Stephen Hendry.
He made few errors and his potting was great.

Stephen was not that accurate when replacing.
Mark had problems with his safety game and Stephen kept on trying to pot whereas he made good safety shots in the early frames.
Allowing Mark to pot & pot, as he was on fire, was the biggest mistake.

                        • Not great between Rory and John, not got money on that one, I bet before the first 2nd round match started so not got money on them all, all first round wasnt finished of course so some matches weren't available to bet on, Higgins is a great man, poor session and somehow scraps to 2 all, the Ding match is turning too, got Selby and Ding to win today, no money on ronnie match either!

                          • Rory getting chances, not taking them, how can he not take the free ball for gods sake?? If he can't beat higgins now, he's got more chance of climbing to the moon than beating higgins in this match!! lol
