He's carrying the hopes of China and is under very much pressure.
Also, considering his ranking and experience, he's the one that's expected to win.
      All the way Mark J!!

What do you mean by he is carrying hopes of China and under much pressure? Aren't other players carrying hopes of their countries? Plus snooker is far more popular in those countries than in China, although it's been gaining popularity.

Most of Chinese fans, me included, don't think Ding will win.

By all accounts snooker is an unbelieveably big succcess and sport in China, he's 12 all with one of the best young players IN THE WORLD, please support him and stop expecting to clear up ALL the time and win easily, he's done great no matter what, I hope he wins too!!

              • you know, while everyone says the trump still has plenty of years to come, people said exactly the same about jimmy white in 1984.
i rmb the commentator went sth like 'well, young jimmy still has many yrs to go"

                look what happened?

                • This is career defining for Ding and Judd

If one wins this year, they could go onto win 3 or 4

The loser might never get to a final again

                  • I would say they virtually stand no chance against the other semi final's winner.

Playing in one-table atmosphere against someone from your generation and an all-time great are quite different..

He's the man of China, just like Neil Robertson is the man of Australia.
Call me another Chinese player's name that you won't be surprised to hear winning a tournament in the next season.
Things aren't the same in Britain, a traditional snooker region, of course.

I guess when Mark Selby got back to 10-10 from 10-6 down, you were one of the quickest to call for Ding's exit. Did I get it wrong?

                      • People may be quick to rule out Trump winning in the final but remember 2005. Murphy beat both Higgins and Ebdon on his way to the final and in the final he was up against Stevens who had reached at least the semi-finals in four of the previous five seasons. Stevens was 10 - 6 ahead but Murphy won 18 - 16. Higgins or Williams would be the favourites going into the final but I wouldn't rule out Trump.

Anything is possible of course, but since no 21-year-old other than Trump has done anything notable at all in the game, I really don't see who will be reaching World finals, if not the likes of Ding and Trump.

Sure, the Higgins/Williams generation has a few more years left, and the Robertson/Murphy/Selby/Maguire generation a few more years than that, but eventually players born after 1990 will have to be winning titles. And it's more likely going to be someone who is already competing at the WC (even if they suffer a crushing defeat today), than someone of the same age who can't even get through qualifiers.
