  • What can you say? After a couple of years, we finally got another great World final. I think what decided the match were those couple of clearances Higgins made from behind. I think he won three or four like that today. He now holds three major titles, including the two biggest ones in the game. So you could say it's the closest to domination since O'Sullivan in 04/05.

Trump can be proud of himself as well. Yes, he missed that easy pink in the final frame, but he handled the pressure pretty well all week, so I don't think he will dwell on it too much, like Stevens does for example. He also didn't come to the tournament as one of the immediate favourites, so I don't think he will see this as something he really should have won. But that luxury is gone now, he will be one of the most talked about players next season.

As for the Championship in general... Well, some players were out of sorts, but a lot of them played really well. The old centuries record of 68 has been surpassed, but it will take something special to beat the "bucket" record of 83 in the future. The final five days were particularly exciting, the most exciting since 2007, if not more. I think I only missed two sessions of this tournament, so I am looking forward to the break now. There won't be any depression this year either, since the new season starts in a couple of weeks.

Well I for one would say that Davis himself was a superior cueman and tactician to Higgins , he does seem to say some strange things nowadays, one minute its O/S,next its Hendry, he must have forgot how good he himself was, total domination in the sport for a decade.
Higgins safety play throughout the final didnt really impress me that much, some of his shot selection was well dodgy and his highest break in 33 frames was 97 (I think)

Can't wait for more snooker!
Couldn't agree more, and it's in a way thanks to the current board of Steve Davis being given the freedom to express his views and get things changed and of course the Great Man, Barry Hearn, my views are earlier in this thread on him, I'm also a HUGE darts fan since 1998, the growth in that sport has been astronomical, it's a great time to be a fan, glad I stuck with it!!!

        • Absolutely sickening that Higgins won and a disgrace to the integrity of snooker.

Also sickening is the ignorance/lack of knowledge the public appear to have. Cheering and clapping Higgins on like sea lions with the BBC trying to cover up the whole incident as a non guilty affair.

Watch the video and you will know the not guilty verdict was a load of cobblers.

          • Congratulations to John for his 4th title!
It was a very entertaining final with two great players. Judd played fantastic all along and went for crazy pots! Kudos to him, he'll touch more silverware soon!

And to those who still find time to criticize John, I really urge them to get lost in the most hiddeous bog ever......and give the man a break.

I wish they would stop asking spastic questions just to film an emotional scene. It's pathetic television.

Great tournament and the popularity of Snooker is growing strong again. Happy days.
Hendry was equavalent, he just didnt have the flair shots that he wanted to play, I agree Ronnie is the most natural player, but being natural gets u nothing really, as Ronnie shows on a regular basis with his lack of temprement, not including this week of course, most of last season he was a shadow of the incredible player he is!!

Some flair yes, especially the young Hendry but not in the same way as the others i've mentioned who have all gone out on a lym really to entertain a crowd in matches win or lose, which the public appreciate and respond to , as can be seen with the response Judd has got the past 2 weeks.

Point i was making really is you need a mix of all types of players to make for great snooker.

I know, how good was Jimmy White, how he didnt win a world title I'll never know!! There wasnt a shot he couldn't play, he (most of the time) had great temprement, technique and a quick brain, great breakbuilder, tragic he never won it, after all he won everything else multiple times!!!

His safety wasnt his best it must be said, that was due to pressure I think, his shot selection was as usual excellent bar one tonight near the end, that red, but he did produce this afternoon when he had to, played quite well this afternoon!!

Seriously, I just want to know how you can defend Higgins? Please enlighten me.

Is it because he was found not guilty of match fixing and your none the wise?
Or are you just Scottish so have to defend no matter what?

I'm genuinely interested how your still a fan.

You do, but from my point of view I'd rather have the success of Davis or Hendry, they are both VERY well liked anyway now so it didnt matter some hated and most didnt want them to win back then, it's mostly not in British nature to appreciate winners I dont think, I appreciate winners, they amaze me how they dominate their respective sports and fascinate me, I want to know what makes them produce and have the ability to dominate even under pressure, Davis and Hendry fascinated me from a young age!! lol

Nothing wrong with that at all.........but it was Alex and Jimmy for me.......lol

Ronnie raised the bar at times and played some un believable stuff when his heads been right, but in young Judd i think at last we have another hero to shout for who plays the pleasing to the eye stuff in matches.

He's more settled than ronnie (as are most!!) and he's got a great temprement too, he's a classy player, he's bound to win a title within 3 years I think!!
