  • Maestro, you make my point.
Great potter is enough . To add the word single does not mean screwing back to baulk and does not tell us anything about the risk percentage of shots played.
Would you like Peter Allis to repeatedly mention "great single ball putter"
I have not heard Clive use this phrase or any other annoying cliche. He thinks about what he is saying and says it accurately.
Your comments about Higgins suggest that you know something that the investigators don't.
By the way,I think I know enough about snooker to comment.

    • Finally i see some braindead idiots on here find hazel irvine a good host, i cant believe they wheeled her out to do the questions at the end of the final, she's an utter disgrace. Pershads no better! Its about time hearn was sorting it out. Atleast lineker can play the game and can ask relevant questions unlike that little troll! And why Clive Evertons been sidelined so much is a nonsense to, meanwhile willie thorns trying to kid on he knows how modern day snookers played, you only have to listen for a while to realise he hasnt got a clue, nowt changed since when he was playing!

Finally does anyone agree with me what an anti climax the bbc make of it all, you sit there for 17 days watching it, the last balls potted, the melted wellie asks a few irrelevant questions and thats it. There should be a good 30 mins of interviews, reviews of the final frames and analysis! I think its an utter disgrace, Hearn wants to get it sorted![/QUOTE]

I agree, that Hazel has completely the wrong imagine for the game. Can you imagin a young kid watching hazel and getting excited about snooker. LOL

I too felt that it was a bit of an anti climax when the game was over. I was buzzing and wanted to see more and hear more about what happened.

      Sorry about the editing guys.

            Hopefully that will die down.

I'll be interested to see how Trump gets on next season. He was full of confidence after winning in China and kept that buzz going all the way through in Sheffield, looking pretty comfortable in the role of a top player. Murphy had a similar confidence about him in 2005, and he was only a year or so older than Trump is now. He won more tournaments including the UK in the years following, but he didn't exactly take the game by storm. Who knows what could happen with Trump when the buzz dies down and the novelty wears off? Will be be a consistent challenger now, or will it only happen in streaks?

            • I was torn in this final, I couldn't make up my mind who i wanted to win. I think trump is the real deal, He will have learned a lot about himself from this match and will be a better player for it. What I find amazing was what cost him this final wasn't taking on risky pots, because lets face it he didn't miss much apart from the blue. I think the pressure just got to him a bit, I'm sure that were looking a great player in the making. A friend of mine said to me once that there never be anyone as good as ronnie but I disagreed, I believe snooker players can go to another level and Judge showed us that.

I think you'll find Michael Judge is well down the rankings now, mate;-)
Whoever said "Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing" was an arsehole.

I wouldn't go as far too say he's shown another level above what we have in the game now. Not yet anyway...

How can you say that when he's only shone in 2 tourneys so far? maybe when he wins everything then he may reach that next level, but not for now. Way too early to make such sweeping statements...

Yeah, he potted some unbelievable balls, unreal at times... but too take it to the next level you have to have alot more to your game than just potting everything, as john showed him last night... Not quite taking the game to the next level. YET.

What's gonna happen on his off days when his potting ain't there (and it happens too all) too get him through the day/next round if he ain't got a 'B' game or plan 'B' if you like...

Judd needs to sharpen up his tactical game big time if he's too keep up (or take it to another level) with the big boys next season, Last night for example when judd was trying to get snookers late in the match too save his butt and just couldn't quite get them, just short etc, some nowhere near tbf some of the snookers he tried were quite poor, he needs to learn how to kill of frames with killer tactics/safety play too, not relying on potting everything to get out of trouble 'all the time' all though he does seem to pot almost everything he goes for like...lol

needs to reign it in a bit and know when to go for the kill and when not too, THEN if he can do that he will be some force in the game.

                  Judge....lol...

I was thinking how is he gonna get this safe and then bang he doubled the pink I could not believe it.
It wasn't the end of the world if Higgins missed the double, he still had two frames left to win the match. I doubt he would have attempted the double had the score been 17 - 17.

People tend to forget that one as Ebdon still won the championship but if Hendry had taken his chances in the deciding frame I'm sure that miss would have been up their with White's black in 1994 and possibly Judd's missed pink.
I can remember that one, I about jumped out of my chair, thought there was no way Ebdon would win the decider, surprised he did, great credit to him to still have that ridiculous belief he has, WHAT a final that was, I am, and always will be a Hendry fan so I was gutted for him, I knew it was his last chance, never thought he'd blow the world title!!

                          • Would anyone say that Higgins' run to the final is toughest for any World Champion?

Obviously McLeod is not of the standard of the others he played, but he did beat the two other dominant players of the last 10 or so years as well as a tough qualifier.

                            • 1999 paul hunter heavily fancied, wattana, matthew stevens, ronnie and williams in the final and the great man pumped them all when he was practically gone at the game!

                              • Murphy didn't have the easiest of runs in 2005: Small, Higgins, Davis, Ebdon and Stevens.
