Jimmy White is down to 63 provisional before the match starts. If he doesn´t win, I guess his chances of staying on the tour isn´t good.

Looks like we are in for a late one tonight, midnight and Couch/O'Donoghue only at 8-8!

No worries for Jimmy White though. Hearn would give him a wildcard right back on. There is no way Hearn would let Whitey go, he's worth too much to world snooker for promotions, sponsors and the tv companies.

Other than Ronnie, Higgings, Hendry and Davies, there are not enough big names left in the game, Selby, Allen, Muphy, Etc just do not have the same clout as yet, they are still not high enough profile without one of the big names with them.

A lot of snooker supporters live on nostalgia, and without these names, snooker would find it hard too survive in the present climate, so they will be around for a few more years yet, no matter how they do on the tour.

I suppose the following and the popularity these players bring to the game, they kind of have a right in a way. As like in golf, the Jack Niclaus, Arnold Palmers are invited to all the US Masters every year, and the public love it. Same should go for our old boys like White too. At the end of the day, if they bring in the punters, the publicity, the sponsors and the oney, whats the harm!!!!!!!
